Who We Are
The Mentoring Oneida County Kids (MOCK) program links Rhinelander students with community members who provide consistent support and friendship on a one-on-one basis during school hours. Mentors encourage students to continue their education, and assist in building self-esteem.
What We Do
MOCK is a community effort to provide support and encouragement to students who may "fall through the cracks" or may be walking on the edge of making poor over good choices. The program is designed to link community volunteers one-on-one with a student, once a week, during a school period. Students are selected for the program based on teacher and counselor recommendations, and with parent permission. Volunteers are recruited from the community, screened and trained, and then matched with a student based upon interests. The new partnership with Kinship of the North will allow greater flexibility in meeting with the students. Through the Kinship program, there will be an opportunity to meet outside of the school, on evenings and on weekends.
