We have an affordable home ownership programs available, where people eager to own their own home put in "sweat equity" to help build it. We also offer repair services for low-moderate income people who own a home but can't easily afford repairs. Volunteers provide labor that helps keep costs down for program participants - doing everything from framing, to painting, to landscaping. To coordinate this construction work also requires a lot of volunteer help, for tasks like registering volunteers on the work site, organizing meals for volunteers, running errands, etc. There is appropriate work for just about everyone. HFHWRA builds 1-2 homes each year, and repairs many more. In addition, HFHWRA runs retail ReStore operations in Baraboo and Portage, where we sell new and gently used building supplies and home improvement items - with the profits used to help build homes. The ReStore is open to the public Monday - Saturday. At the ReStore, volunteer opportunities abound. The ReStore requires volunteers for taking in donations, cleaning items, stocking shelves, doing advertising (both print, and on the web), cashiering, and helping customers.
