The STAR Association offers adaptive sport activities for children in grades K-5 with cognitive and physical challenges. STAR has a need for mentors for our athletes, help running drills, and assistance in preparing and storing equipment for sessions. Volunteers will mentor children in a ratio of 1:1 to 1:3 with participants in a wide range of physical activities. No prior experience with adaptive sports is required. We will train you. Programs run at Central High School on Sundays from 2:30-3:30 pm.
This is an excellent experience for students or community members interested in Adaptive Physical Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Special Education, and Sports Science. University students are not expected to volunteer during midterms and finals- we are able to work with your schedule.
Individuals must reach out to the STAR Center at info@starcenterlacrosse.org or 608-797-6295 to begin volunteering.
Volunteers must SIGN UP on SIGNUP Genius (found on website) and must complete Orientation Training and Quiz before volunteering.
