Spring Clean Up for Artspire La Crosse
When the snow melts and colorful spring bulbs push through the soil, we prepare the gardens and grounds surrounding the Pump House Regional Arts Center for Artspire La Crosse; a free, two-day community celebration of the arts that takes place around the historic Pump House building grounds, courtyard and throughout the Arts District in Downtown La Crosse, annually in June. This year Artspire is on Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11, 2022.
Grounds preparation this Spring will include gardening tasks such as edging, light raking, plant pruning and mulch. More specifically,
- Raking up leaves in garden beds that were left to mulch over winter.
- Shoveling dirt from the front garden edge and moving it toward the foundation of the building to grade landscaping.
- Pruning of shrubs when needed.
- Laying and spreading mulch on the front garden and the back-courtyard garden.
Flexible scheduling during Pump House business hours on Earth Day, April 22, 9 am-5 pm and Saturday, April 23, 12-4 pm during Downtown Clean up day. If you are available to help on a different day, please contact me and we can work with the schedule you are available. Hours to be volunteered would be best during Pump House hours: Monday-Friday 9 am- 5 pm, Tuesday 9 am- 7 pm, Saturday 12-4 pm.
Every year, generous volunteers such as yourself, help with landscaping and light gardening, a recurring volunteer need at the Pump House.
The Natural Arts Garden Club maintains the west gardens under the mural. Last Fall 2021, gardening volunteers from Altra Federal Credit Union planted a spring bulb garden in the front garden that we look forward to sharing with the neighborhood.
Artspire La Crosse has historically drawn 6000-8000 people to Downtown La Crosse for two days, who shop, eat, play and stay; directly impacting our local economy through celebrating the arts.
