Companion Volunteers enrich the lives of hospice patients in their area through regular visits, which may involve playing games, enjoying a leisurely stroll around the nursing home/assisted-living facility or just engaging in lively conversation. Service hours are flexible and scheduled according to your availability and location. Requirements of Companion Volunteers: must be 18 years or older; agree to a background/reference check; have reliable transportation; and attend an orientation to learn more about the philosophy of hospice, our company, the role of the volunteer and communicating with hospice patients and their families. Volunteer hours are extremely flexible and opportunities are scheduled according to needs, personality, availability and location.
