Join Homme Home staff and residents for coffee and reminiscing. This opportunity allows volunteers to partner with Homme Home Activity Staff to create a friendly, relaxing environment in which to engage residents with dementia. This activity provides the residents with a sense of peace and comfort as the transition from lunch into afternoon. Volunteers may read stories or newspaper articles with residents, listen to music, or share a friendly visit. Ideal candidates are patient, easy going, able to speak loudly and clearly (for the hard of hearing), and willing to participate in educational workshops about dementia and dementia care. They are able to offer reassurance during periods of confusion and/or anxiety. Candidates interested in this opportunity must pass a background check.
