The mentorship program provides support for newly resettled refugee families by helping them learn basic life skills and adapt to life in the U.S. These life skills can include but are not limited to budgeting and banking, grocery shopping, how to utilize public transportation, and showcasing local resources available to the public. Mentors play a key role in the integration process and can be instrumental in helping the refugee family achieve self-sufficiency. Lasting friendships often develop with this volunteer opportunity. Mentors meet with a refugee family once a week for 1-3 hours over the course of at least 3 months.
