Every Step. Every Student. is United Way's school readiness initiative that helps ensure local students start the school year with confidence and the resources they need to succeed. The program provides new, properly fitted athletic shoes at no cost to children who qualify, reducing financial barriers for families while promoting health, attendance, confidence, and academic success.
The program is powered by volunteers who assist with registration, shoe fittings, distribution events, and family support. We are currently seeking caring, community-minded volunteers to help at our shoe distribution events by fitting shoes and ensuring every child receives the correct size. A properly fitted pair of shoes is essential for a child's comfort, health, and confidence, and volunteers play a critical role in making that possible.
By engaging volunteers, local businesses, schools, and partner organizations, Every Step. Every Student. creates meaningful service opportunities while making a tangible difference in the lives of children throughout Jefferson and North Walworth Counties. In its inaugural year, the program aims to provide 1,000 pairs of new shoes to local students, helping ensure every child can take their next step toward success.
