Omro Area Community Center teamed up with Omro School District in creating Little Fox Literacy; a volunteer program designed to give extra attention to students reading in school. A background check is required by Omro School District for the safety of its students.
Volunteers are matched by teacher and time availability. Students often read to their volunteer partners, but some volunteers read to groups of students as well.
Availability is needed between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. (teachers try to find time in their busy schedules for volunteers to come work with their students). Students truly benefit from time spent with their volunteers; volunteers are asked to be punctual and notify either teacher or volunteer coordinator if unable to attend.
