Description

Please join us for our kick off event of the year, our volunteer orientation! Without our volunteers, we wouldn't be able to do what we do. Every volunteer plays a vital role in making our program functional. Each volunteer also has the chance to make an impact and connection with our riders.

Our volunteer orientation consists of going over our who and  what we are, our vision and mission, our policies and procedures, and then afterwards there is additional training for those who are able to be "horse leaders."

If you have any questions, or would like to get involved, please feel free to fill out an application on our website: (http://www.hssr.org/form/volunteer-application-release-form), call us at (608) 791-4868, or email us with more questions at info@hssr.org

Volunteers are a vital part of the HorseSense for Special Riders program, which teaches horseback riding to individuals with disabilities. Up to three volunteers are often utilized per rider with one as a horse leader and two as side walkers. All volunteers, even previous volunteers, will be required to attend one orientation meeting. Minimum age for volunteering is 14 years of age (horse leaders must be at least 15 years of age). Additional training for those interested in horse leader/handler will be offered immediately after each general orientations from 7:00pm - 7:30pm.
