Redirecting the Passion of a Volunteer     Register here

When: Wednesday, July 20, 11:00am-12:00pm

You have several dedicated volunteers serving with your organization. Things are running smoothly. There is temptation to adopt a “set it and forget it” approach to leadership during the good times.

Effective leaders know that the good times may have a shelf life, and challenges with volunteers can arise at any time.

This one-hour virtual session will provide the proactive steps leaders can take to sustain the engagement of their valued volunteers. Leaders will explore how sharing ongoing performance feedback with their fellow Board members, and how the concept of Coaching, sharing in regularly scheduled one-on-one conversations, can foster relationship-building and provide insights into the intrinsic motivators of each volunteer.

But, there’s more. What can a leader do to nurture the head, heart and hands of a volunteer through turbulent times? Under what circumstances should a leader consider redirecting or parting ways with those who choose to serve?

Leaders will also examine a simple model that will help them analyze the performance of their volunteers before considering “redirecting” them. As a result of exploring the model, Leaders will understand how to show compassion in every step of the volunteer life cycle, even when things are not going well.

Presented by Barry Altland, Thought Leader, Writer, Speaker, Organizational Partner/Consultant
