Who We Are

The Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association Inc. (WWOA) purpose is to encourage sustainable forestry and management of all related resources in Wisconsin. We are dedicated to serving the interests of woodland owners; developing public appreciation for the value of Wisconsin's woodlands and the importance of woodlands in the economy and overall welfare of the Wisconsin; and educating woodland owners to install a strong commitment to sustainable forest management.

WWOA's mission is to ensure that future generations will be able to enjoy the beauty and utility of the woodlands.

WWOA was started in 1979 when a group of private woodland owners gathered to be a collective voice for the state's woodland owners. Their goal was to create a network of landowners across Wisconsin, who wanted to learn more about managing their woodlands sustainably.

As WWOA grew, local chapters were developed to provide activities within a several county region. WWOA's chapters now provide at least three activities a year in their area. WWOA's Annual Meeting has grown from a one day event to four days of tours, keynote speaker and concurrent sessions, exhibitors, awards banquet, and a field day on a member's property. WWOA's committees work on a variety of issues such as creating our quarterly magazine, educating others about possible woodland-related legislative action, managing our website, and topics such as invasives and keeping our forests healthy.

What We Do

WWOA provides a variety of educational and networking opportunities to Wisconsin's private woodlands owners and those interested in learning more about Wisconsin's woodlands. Membership benefits include our quarterly magazine, Wisconsin Woodlands, bi-annual newsletter published with the Wisconsin Tree Farm Committee, our local chapter activities, participation in our committees and statewide 4-day Annual Meeting. Many of our educational efforts are available to nonmembers and members alike such as our website at wisconsinwoodlands.org, and regional winter conferences. We also partner with a number of conservation organizations to provide field days or conferences covering natural resource related topics.
