Who We Are

Volunteer Guardian Services is provided through a grant from the Kenosha County Division of Aging and Disability Services. We are located in the Aging and Disability Resource Center, 8600 Sheridan Road, Kenosha, WI.

Since its inception, the program has grown to include over 50 guardians who make a positive difference in over 70 guardianships. The program continues to grow every month while wards continue to wait for the perfect match with a guardian.

What We Do

Do you enjoy visiting people and helping elderly and/or disabled adults? Do you want to make a difference in someone's life? If you said yes, then become a Volunteer Guardian!

We will assist in training, and be a resource for information and support, then match you with an elder or disabled adult to become their legal guardian. Volunteer guardians play an important role in the life of an at-risk elderly or disabled adult. You will make important health, welfare and/or financial decisions and advocate for adults who can no longer make decisions for themselves. Your compassion and caring will provide a loving and nurturing relationship for both the at-risk adult and you.

A volunteer guardian is appointed by the court after a thorough screening and training process. We will assist you through this process and will provide on-going assistance to our volunteers to help them be successful.

You must be at least 21 years old, pass a background check and take and pass a free online course that is about 3 hours through the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. An E-mail address is helpful but not required. Have questions or want more information call above number or e-mail Chris.king@kenoshacountywi.gov for more information
