Rhinelander Salvation Army

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination The Salvation Army came to the United States in the late 1890's, by 1905 it had spread across the USA. In 1926 it was noted the the issues facing rural America were different than that of metro areas. As a result, the rural SA Service Extension was set up to provide services in areas where there were no Salvation army facilities.

The Salvation Army of Oneida County provides for the less fortunate with material support, including food, clothing, rent and utility assistance. Referrals to other agencies as well as spiritual counseling are also offered. Disaster Services are also provided. We have quarterly meetings to discuss the social issues facing the Rhinelander area as well solutions to poverty.
