Literacy Task Force Of Northern Wisconsin Inc.

The Literacy Task Force of Northern Wisconsin (LTF-NW) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families and individuals in north central Wisconsin who struggle with reading and spelling. We are parents, educators and concerned citizens.

LTF-NW partners with the Wisconsin Branch of the International Dyslexia Association (WIBIDA), Wisconsin Literacy, Inc., American Association of University Women (AAUW) and Nicolet Area Technical College.

Overview of Accomplishments 2004-2013

• Started in June, 2004, as a group of concerned parents and professionals. Decision was made to focus on strong literacy tutor/training in Northern Wisconsin. Beginning and Advance Level Training
• 2005-2012-89 tutors have been trained in a sixty hour (2 week) beginning level training workshops trained 34 tutors have received advanced level training

Over 110 children and adults have received tutoring 6 tutors have been trained in the Slant System Scholarships Awarded through Donations

* We provide tutoring for struggling children and adults.

* We train reading tutors using scientifically researched methods. Our teaching starts at a person's reading and spelling level and takes a systematic approach.

* We give talks about literacy to area agencies, organizations, and schools.

* We raise money for training scholarships and resource materials.
