Who We Are
Marshfield Clinic serves patients through accessible, high quality health care, research and education. Marshfield Clinic Center for Community Outreach partners with communities to support community health improvement plans and assists in developing healthy environments that foster resilient, successful children, youth and families. Through the Center for Community Outreach, Marshfield Clinic offers individuals and groups a variety of volunteer opportunities to improve the quality of life and health within local communities. Independent and Upright is a program developed by Marshfield Clinic and the Lincoln County Falls Coalition to empower individuals to maintain independence by assisting to reduce fall risks in the home through education and peer-to-peer home visits.
What We Do
Marshfield Clinic and the Lincoln County Falls Coalition have partnered to develop a senior peer-to-peer fall risk home visiting program called Independent and Upright. Independent and Upright works to empower older adults to maintain their independence by using volunteers, trained through Marshfield Clinic, to assist in keeping program participants safe in their home. Volunteers visit program participants in the comfort of their own home and walk through each room with the participant using a simple checklist. If key risk factors are identified, the volunteer can connect the individual to community resources to make safety changes. The program is available for all community members in Lincoln County. Program participants can be referred by a medical provider, family member, friend or self. If you are interested in receiving more information, or if you are interested in volunteering, please contact Marshfield Clinic Center for Community Outreach at 715-221-8400.
