Who We Are
Our Mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. The message we want to share is that the business of the YMCA is changing lives. Our work is about instilling values in kids today, so they will make better decisions tomorrow. It is about character and leadership development. This year the Door County YMCA celebrated its 29th year of serving children, families and seniors. We are the county's largest not for profit social service organization. Fifteen years ago, we opened our Northern Door Program Center. We recently opened 2 new daycare/camp facilities to better serve the needs of our community.
What We Do
The Door County YMCA has been serving Door County and its surrounding communities since 1986. It has grown and developed within this area, providing sound programs and positive alternatives to over 7,100 members annually at two program centers and providing programming to one in three residents in Door County. At the YMCA there are programs for every age group. We hosted dance classes, swim lessons and fitness classes. More than 30 junior and senior high school students participated in YMCA Youth in Government, our YMCA's long standing program focused on civic responsibility. Our swim team enjoyed a record enrollment of more than 130 children. More than 1000 of our mature members enjoy the Silver Sneakers Program and use our Y regularly. Our free year round foods program provided a meal each weekday to over 300 kids throughout the peninsula. Also our LiveSTRONG and Parkinson's programs provide support both physically and spiritually to Cancer and Parkinson's survivors. The Y works to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the nation's health and well-being, and give back to our community, while supporting our neighbors.
