Who We Are

Wise Women Gathering Place is a Native-led nonprofit organization located in Oneida, Wisconsin, within the reservation boundaries of the Oneida Nation.

Founded from a grassroots gathering around Alice Skenandore’s kitchen table, WWGP has grown into an organization that supports healing, advocacy, and community wellbeing through Indigenous-centered, trauma-informed approaches to healing and skills development that supports healthy relationships in community life.

Guided by the philosophy of community midwifery, we walk alongside people of all identities, backgrounds, and experiences as they heal from domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of violence. Our work centers relationships, cultural connection, and the understanding that healing happens in community.

Our mission is to promote Peace, Respect, and Belonging through skill building, sharing of resources and caring support for our community.

Vision

A community who possess motivation, knowledge, resources and skills to peacefully co-inhabit their environment, each having a sense of safety, opportunity, fulfillment, and belonging. Each fully committed to sustaining these values for every person, for all time.

What We Do

Healing-Centered Youth Programs – Culturally responsive groups and leadership opportunities that build belonging, healthy relationships, and life skills.

Community Education & Training – Workshops and facilitation in healthy relationships, conflict transformation, prevention, and collaborative decision-making using ToP Facilitation Methods and Discovery Relationships resources.

Advocacy & Support Services – Trauma-informed advocacy for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, resource navigation, and community support.

Safe Place Parking – Wisconsin's only safe parking initiative, providing a secure overnight place for people living in their vehicles while connecting them with resources and pathways to stability.

Community Connection & Resource Development – Building partnerships, sharing resources, coordinating volunteers, and strengthening community capacity through education and collaboration.
