Who We Are
Mission: To support the health and well-being of the people of Greater Green Bay by promoting healthy food access and education and by cooperating throughout Northeast Wisconsin to build a thriving local food system in a clean environment.
New Leaf Foods, Inc. is a Green Bay non-profit organization founded in 2011. Volunteer-led organizations like New Leaf Foods depend on the generosity of people who share their skills, experience, talents, and funds to support our mission.
New Leaf volunteers care passionately about the welfare of our community. Let’s work together to create a sustainable, equitable, high-quality, thriving local food system that promotes wellness and supports a healthy natural environment.
Our Vision
Good Food for Good Health, Now and for Generations.
What We Do
Our Programs
Healthy Local Foods Resource and Communication Hub
- New Leaf supports a healthy local food system by communicating about the events and work of our non-profit as well as that of all local organizations and enterprises who share our mission.
- We support educational programs that teach about healthy meals, access to healthy food, food gardening, environmental health, sustainable farming, and good food empowerment.
New Leaf Community Orchard project
- The mission of the New Leaf Community Orchard and the Bountiful Branches project is to empower Green Bay area residents to grow food and be part of a sustainable urban agricultural system.
- Installing community orchards in public spaces at parks, schools, low-income housing sites, and community open spaces.
- Provide edible landscape plants like raspberries, blackberries, elderberries, plum trees, apple trees, black chokeberries, and hazelnuts that not only enhance the beauty of any yard but also provide growers with yummy, healthy options that grow year after year with our annual sale.
- Through local partnerships, the Brown County Seed Library provides education, encouragement, resources, and seeds to all community members to grow and protect the current and future food supply. The Seed Library fosters self-reliance and empowers individuals to grow nutritious food and complementary plants that support pollinators.
Seymour Park Food Forest Project
- This project aims to help alleviate food insecurity and food deserts within the City of Green Bay by growing healthy local food in this public park in a way that is sustainable, costs less money over time, and reduces maintenance for the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department. It is a pilot project in partnership with the City of Green Bay and the Seymour Park Neighborhood Association. Headed by Josh Kufahl, this project started in 2012, and is located inside the Frank B. Seymour Park
