Who We Are

Our Mission The Shawano Area United Way, Inc. improves community life by mobilizing the caring power of individuals in order to provide maximum positive impact in the areas of education, income, and health. Our Vision The Shawano Area United Way will strive to end poverty, maximize the health of our fellow citizens, and bring innovative educational opportunities to our community. Our Goals To meet this vision, we will: Listen - We are in a unique position to bring together diverse voices and to balance diverse perspectives. Facilitate - We will sometimes lead, sometimes guide, sometimes push, and sometimes stay out of the way. Protect our stakeholder’s interests. Encourage innovation, recognizing that this will require taking risks and making mistakes. Respond to the changing needs of the workplace, industry, and society; we recognize the value of the lessons of the past; however, we face many challenges. We will be flexible, open, and adaptable. These goals are ambitious, but with your help, and by utilizing our core strengths — a national network, committed partners and public engagement capacity — we can achieve them.

What We Do

The Shawano Area United Way does quite a bit to support Shawano County and the Menominee Reservation! We run several Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites, the Snuggled with a Hug Diaper Bank, have two Born Learning Trails in the City of Shawano, update the Local Community Resource Card, and provide general nonprofit to a wide variety of organizations through funding, education, and other means.
