Who We Are
Make-A-Wish is the largest wish-granting organization in the world with 58 chapters in the United States and its territories and 40 international affiliates granting wishes in more than 50 countries on six continents. Since 1984, the Wisconsin Chapter has granted wishes for nearly 8,000 children.
Mission: Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
What We Do
Make-A-Wish (MAW) grants wishes to medically-qualified children between the ages of 2½ and 18 who are living with a malignant, progressive or degenerative medical condition who have not previously received a wish from another wish granting organization.
MAW Wisconsin’s three main volunteer roles are our Wish Granters, translators/interpreters, and our event volunteers.
- Wish Granters work directly with wish kids and their families to discover and present the child's wish, as well as make their entire wish journey unique and unforgettable with ‘wish boosts’.
- Translators/Interpreters accompany Wish Granters during wish family visits to facilitate communication and prevent ambiguity between MAW Wisconsin and the wish family, as well as translation of documents and other organizational material.
- Event Volunteers work with MAW Wisconsin staff to support our fundraising efforts, which financially support the wishes we grant. wish.org/wisconsin/our-events-0
