Who We Are

The Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) mission is to empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers on how to prevent, detect, and report health care fraud, abuse, and errors through outreach, counseling, and education.

What We Do

The Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) volunteers educates Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers on how to prevent health care fraud and provides tips on how to protect themselves. We also inform them on how to detect fraud and errors, and then offer steps to report health care fraud or manage errors. We do this through outreach, counseling, and education. SMP is in every county across Wisconsin. Volunteer involvement ranges from staffing a booth at health fairs / senior expos / resource events, to giving group presentations, to answering calls from the toll-free helpline. By volunteering with SMP you can potentially save beneficiaries a great deal of money and protect their health identity. By volunteering you play a vital role in protecting older adults from fraud thereby making a significant investment in your community.
