Jill's House Windy City is a weekend camp experience, offered throughout the year, where kids with intellectual disabilities, ages 6-17, get to enjoy an incredible weekend just for them, while their families receive a few days to rest. At our beautiful camp on Lake Geneva, our incredible campers create memories and friendships through activities like hayrides, giant swings, boat rides, crafts, games, talent shows, and more. At the same time, they are surrounded by caring and committed onsite medical personnel, childcare specialists, staff, and one-on-one volunteer buddies that ensure every detail is managed and every unique need is met so parents can enjoy a worry-free break. Meals, accommodations, activities, and full-time care are all included, making this an all-inclusive weekend a stress-relieving time for everyone. Rest is vital for families raising kids with intellectual disabilities, due to the high amount of stress they face every day. Respite care is proven to reduce this stress by 60% within the first night, and helps create a healthier environment of balance for the family as a whole. As a volunteer you don’t have to have any experience, our staff will take care of all the needs of the kids and you simply just get to step in and have fun!
