This may include working in reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information, or other areas within a shelter. The Red Cross is looking for an individual who is able to assist disaster clients, to utilize their own spiritual resources, values and faith in the midst of crisis, regardless of one's faith tradition. This person would help facilitate long-term recovery by providing spiritual and emotional support, and connection to local resources.

Medical Screener volunteers join the blood collections staff to ensure timely processing of donors at blood drives. Medical Screeners collect and confirm donor demographics and health histories, determine procedure eligibility, and conduct physical exams (oral temperature, pulse, blood pressure). This position provides you with the opportunity to validate your training and skills at a nationally recognized organization while providing service to your community. Volunteer from the comfort of your home! The Red Cross is in need of  volunteers to conduct phone interviews with potential volunteers. The Volunteer Screener gathers relevant information about prospective volunteer candidates while assessing which positions volunteers are best suited for. Disaster Health Services Team volunteers use their professional skills as licensed healthcare providers to deliver hands-on care and education to shelter residents. Free online training will be provided and can count toward nursing continuing education units. If the need arises, volunteers are asked to commit to multiple local shifts of 4 to 12 hours each. For those able to travel outside of their local area, a commitment of at least 10 to 14 consecutive days, working 8- or 12-hour shifts, is required. Qualified licenses include RN, LPN, LVN, EMT, Paramedic, MD, DO, PA, NP, and APRN. Only RNs have full scope of practice. Hear firsthand why others have volunteered in this role. Disaster Action Team (DAT) members directly help people affected by disasters ranging from wildfires to hurricanes by providing food, shelter, essential relief supplies and hope. Locally, our most common disaster is home fire. The skills you learn locally are invaluable and make you more effective and efficient. You can also support disasters "behind the scenes" with planning, logistics or volunteer management.

The Red Cross is looking for individuals to work weekend and overnight shifts (10pm-2am/2am-6am) for Disaster Dispatch. The Red Cross response is a team effort and Disaster Dispatch is the vital link between the Red Cross and local first responders.
