NOAHH (Neighbors Offering A Helping Hand) is a partnership between community members and Outagamie County Department of Health and Human Services to assist DHHS clients meet their needs. A county worker alerts the Volunteer Coordinator to a need. The coordinator then reaches out to NOAHH partners to help fulfill that need. NOAHH partners are generally groups such as churches or businesses that have a membership base, but individuals are also welcome. Needs may include new or gently used furniture, kitchen items, bedding, clothes, etc. There is no time commitment - just share the need with friends and coworkers to help find the needed item. Legal Guardians are appointed by the court to act as an advocate for a person who has been found to be incompetent. Responsibilities can include overseeing the individual’s welfare, making personal decisions on their behalf, and managing their assets. Guardians may be appointed in charge of the person, estate, or both. Guardians will be matched to a ward based on their preferences. Complete the work around your schedule. Outagamie County provides volunteer drivers to help DHHS clients (children and parents) stay connected by providing transportation for rides to appointments such as child visitation, therapy and other necessary appointments. There are both local and out of county trips available. Drives are available weekdays, weekends, and evenings. Drivers choose what rides they want to pick up and therefore set their own schedule. Mileage reimbursement at the federal rate is provided. Our drivers allow us to help those in need and continue to serve the community one individual at a time. A volunteer family interaction supervisor monitors visits between children in alternative care and their parent(s) or other family members. The volunteer’s role is to supervise the visit, making sure it is safe and productive. Transporting the child and/or parent to and from the visit is usually also part of the position. Visits are held at a site determined by the social worker and family and may occur at the department, in the community, or in the home. Visits can take place during the day, evenings, or weekends. The volunteer’s schedule is flexible and determined by the hours they want to work and the assignments they accept from the volunteer coordinator. Once a case is accepted the schedule is consistent.
