Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Badgerland Council has a mission to build up girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. We provide K-12 programming in the areas of STEM, the outdoors, life skills and entrepreneurship. At many of our events, it's Girl Scout tradition to exchange "SWAPs" which stands for: Small or Special whatcha-ma-call-its Affectionally Pinned Somewhere. SWAPs are a small symbol of friendship that Girl Scouts proudly display on their sash or vest. Junior Achievement has opportunities for grades in elementary and middle schools throughout the school year. Classes are usually once weekly (30 minutes) for 6 weeks. This person also provides support to the administrative staff and to the Executive Director. This person should be outgoing and personable, as they will be building relationships with our patrons and their Pump House team members, as well as with our friends and sponsors in the community. Our patrons will learn to see this person as a “go-to” contact for any and all questions regarding the Pump House. Office Support volunteers help RCC keep operations running smoothly by offering their administrative expertise, or sometimes just an extra set of hands. Tasks that these volunteers complete include: stuffing envelopes, data entry, answering our business line, fundraising tasks and general clerical tasks.

Office Volunteers assist the Office Coordinator with the daily operations of the RCC’s office. The RCC’s office is open from 9a-5p Monday-Friday, the Office Volunteer will cover the front desk a half day (either 9a-1p or 1p-5p) twice a week. Must be at least 18-years-old.

Our Train/Carousel volunteers absolutely make the visit for many of our guests – young and young-at-heart alike. Work as part of a team with other volunteers and HVZ staff to get everyone safely all aboard! Responsibilities range from ticket taking to running the rides to bringing cheer to even the most tired toddler. This is an excellent role for those who enjoy children and families, who have patience and understanding, and who prefer working as part of a team.

This volunteer position (for volunteers 18+) offers interpreter and translation support to help support FRIENDS, Inc. team members best serve victims of domestic and sexual violence in our community. You may interpret during scheduled 1v1 appointments, groups, or translate general documents.

Hope Care Package Drive

Community Benefit Tree (CBT) needs your support to host a care package drive and help families going through a medical crisis by providing some joy, hope and comfort.  When families have a sick loved one, they often are drained emotionally and financially.  We would like to send them care packages to assist them with this difficult time.  

Looking for companies, schools, churches, families and organizations to host a "Hope Care Package Drive". The collection box will display a list of needs to assemble the care packages to give to families in the community struggling with a medical crisis.  These items will be packaged and given to families who need immediate assistance.

Items needed:  Gas cards, Restaurant cards, Coffee place gift cards, Grocery Store gift cards, board games, socks, blankets, lip balm, lotions, hotel stay gift cards for traveling to treatments, crossword puzzles, playing cards, kid's toys, coloring books (adult and child), crayons, pencils, and totes to put the items in.

FRIENDS, Inc. is a local shelter that houses individuals and families who are fleeing from violence and abuse. We provide housing and support services to those who need it the most. 

We are looking for someone like you to help with childcare for our clients during group sessions.  

This position provides structured childcare (read stories, snack, craft/art projects) during weekly support groups for children ages eight and under.

You can host (aka foster) an assistance-dog-in-training in your home for 2 weeks!

Many of our puppies spend 8 months in training with carefully chosen inmate handlers at Jackson Correctional Institution.

The dogs go to homes of volunteers near the prison for 2 weeks during their time in the training program, in order to learn good house manners and get exposed to as many social and public situations as possible.

Can Do Canines provides knowledgeable training staff to support you, all of the dog food, and vet care.

By helping host a future assistance dog in your home, you are enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities. These dogs will grow up to bring their people more freedom, independence and peace of mind.

Help us make everyone's holiday better with a donation of new or gently used toys, books, and games. We can also use lots of clothing for adults and children in all sizes. Books in Spanish are particularly needed.

Donations can be dropped off at Extended hands Pantry at 6402 Schroeder Rd, Madison, WI 53711. Hours are on Monday and Tuesday from noon to 6pm, and on Friday from 9am to 1pm. Other times available by appointment, or we can pick up. 

Volunteers at our front desk and our resource advocates play an integral role in supporting our program and community. They assist in connecting individuals to needed resources, monitor computer access times in the SJC resource area, and take part in relevant trainings.

This role will primarily take place at the community space area of the SJC, with occasional trips to other parts of the building (if mobility is an issue, accommodations can be made). The work environment can be lively, with other people working nearby. Volunteers are welcome to bring food/snacks to eat and other activities to work on when there is downtime.

Schedule

At this time, our weekly Resource Advocacy sessions are Wednesday and Friday afternoons, but there are many times throughout the week where Resource Advocates can be on-hand to assist walk-ins or calls.  These hours range from 9am-3pm on weekdays in 2 to 3 hour shifts.  There is no minimum number of shifts required. Volunteers will be shown how to sign up for available shifts on a weekly or monthly basis.

Training and supervision

All volunteers will be provided with written and on-line informational materials regarding the SJC and its member organizations, building layout and operations, community resources, and SJC-dedicated software including Discord, TeamUp, SLAB, BaseCamp and Google Drive.  There is a core curriculum of training modules on local social services and resources that volunteers are required to complete to become a resource advocate. Training on trauma-informed practices and de-escalation will be provided to resource advocacy volunteers, with additional training opportunities available for those looking to build their skills.

Screening

After being referred to SJC by another organization such as the University or RSVP of Dane County, an informal interview will occur to ensure a good fit for all parties. Volunteering as part of an outside/third-party program, (such as earning hours for credit or fulfilling a community service requirement), should be discussed during the interview process or before beginning volunteer hours. Volunteers participating in these kinds of programs are always welcome when the following information is provided:

With almost 20 boys waiting to be matched with adult mentors, we have an immediate need for male volunteers willing to be positive role models for kids! At the Outagamie County Mentoring Program, we work with the youth in the community who need us the most. We match kids with adults who help them out just by being a friend and spending a few hours a month together. A successful match is life changing for both the mentor and mentee! All of the youth in our program are between 6-17 years old and have been referred by a social worker from Outagamie County Health and Human Services.

Mentor matches spend about 4-8 hours a month together to develop a positive and trusting relationship the youth can rely on. Mentors expose youth to new and positive experiences that enhance self esteem and improve social skills. We find that many mentors enjoy getting to be a kid again with their mentee!

If you mentor with Outagamie County, you will receive all the training and support you need to make your match successful. We sponsor several events each year for our matches and also reimburse for mileage.

The BRICK Ministries is a partnered effort between its member churches, businesses, and residents who share the mission and vision of compassionately helping people in need, serving residents of Ashland and Bayfield Counties. We offer a Food Shelf Program that distributes food and personal care items at four locations: Ashland, Cable, Cornucopia, and Mellen. Our Benevolence Program assists with emergency financial resources and provides referrals.

Warehouse Assistant Job Description:

Warehouse Assistants work under the supervision of the Food Shelf Manager.

Specific duties may include:
• Picking up food donations from local businesses and unloading monthly truck deliveries
• Loading up food in company vehicle to deliver to outlet site pantries
• Stocking shelves, coolers, and freezers
• Assorted cleaning tasks in pantry and warehouse
• Sorting food donations with safety guidelines provided by Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank

Warehouse Assistants will be asked to lift up to 50 pounds and utilize pallet jack. Similar work experience is preferred but not required.

We have volunteer opportunities to help process items that are donated to our thrift store, such as cleaning the item, checking to make sure all parts and pieces are complete, checking to see if in good condition and working properly, and labeling with the proper store code.  This is a great group opportunity for families, churches, sports teams, and places of employment.

We have equipment that we use at each of our fundraisers and/or that we 
rent out to the general public that at times needs to be repaired, painted, or created. Along with
re-purposing of items to sell in our Online store. We need individuals who are good with either fixing things and/or good with building/working with wood, crafty, like to paint, etc…  Some projects might have the ability to be done at your home.

QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of painting, mechanical, crafty, creative
and good with wood would be helpful but required.

Coaches play a key role in instructing the Celebration of Support (families benefit) team on the programs and tools Community Benefit Tree has to assist in having a successful event.  Lead the family/friends (Celebration team) of the recipient in the right planning direction.

Ingleside is looking for someone who wants to help answer phones and greet people as they come to see their loved ones. As the front desk representative you will greet people as they come in, ask them to sign in, point them in the right direction and answer phone calls. If this is something you would be interested in feel free to call Crystal, Activity Director at 608-470-4017. We are looking for any day of the week you are available between 3:00-8:00pm. Volunteer hours are flexible! 

Waukesha County operates a Teen Court- an alternate justice program for youth offenders based on the restorative justice model. In this court, teens who have committed offenses plead guilty, and then present their case to a jury of their peers. Other teens take on the role of prosecutor, defender, clerk of courts, jury foreman, and jury. The jury decides the consequences. We have been operating this program for over 10 years with a lot of success. The teens themselves are less likely to reoffend, they have a great opportunity for education, and they learn about the consequences of their actions.

We are seeking teen volunteers to be part of our jury. Teens will listen to testimony and, along with the entire jury, help determine the consequence.

All courts are held Thursdays evenings, typically the second and fourth of every month, or only the second Thursday of the month in June, July and August. Volunteer jurors are asked to commit to 1-2 shifts per month.

This is a great way for teens to learn about the justice system, promote positive change in their community, and meet like-minded people. Contact us today for more information!

Childcare volunteers must be 14 years old or older. Volunteers must enjoy working with kids and have strong boundaries. Our childcare program runs Mon-Thurs. nights from 6-8pm and Saturdays from 1-3pm. Volunteers sign up for any shifts that work in their lives. Help is especially needed Mon. & Tues. nights because of support groups that run at the same time. We have a childcare room, outdoor playground and art room that volunteers may use with the children.
