Centro Hispano is looking for a volunteer to assist with the operations of our General Support Program. Services provided through this program include interpretation, education, health, housing, information/referral, legal, immigration, and notary public. This position will aid in the follow up of clients, data entry, as well as other needs as they arise.

Centro Hispano seeks qualified volunteer mentors to work with middle and high school youth at various school sites in the Madison Metropolitan School District (including Toki, Sennett, Sherman, and Wright Middle Schools & West and East High Schools). Mentors are paired with a student participant of one of Centro Hispano’s youth programs and continue to mentor the student for a minimum of 1 year. Volunteer mentors are required to commit to 25 hours of service per semester, an average of 2 hours each week. Volunteer mentors are also required to attend at least one training during the school year. Work study is available for eligible UW-Madison students.

Ministry Hospice Music Volunteer

Play a Song – Change a Life.  Highly trained volunteers assist with end-of-life needs of Hospice patients and their families using their musical talents and abilities.  We encourage anyone interested in bringing joy and comfort, and have the ability to play an instrument and/or sing, to consider becoming a hospice music volunteer!

Ministry Hospice Pet Therapy Volunteer

Highly trained volunteers with certified therapy pets provide emotional support and comfort through therapeutic interactions with pets.  For patients living in facilities, pet visitation may be used to enhance positive physical, cognitive, emotional and social interactions, as well as to help normalize the environment and reduce stress.

Prior to handler and pet being accepted as a volunteer team, the handler will participate in and successfully complete the standard volunteer training program. The pet must meet all health requirements, and dogs must be certified through Therapy Dogs International (TDI) or a similar organization using the same criteria for certification. Minimum age: 18

Heartland Hospice volunteers help to support and enhance the quality of life of those they visit. Vets-for-vets volunteers offer services such as: companionship by just being present for the patient and offering to talk or assisting with non-medical tasks; emotional support through active listening, sharing experiences and stories; allowing for expression of feelings; holding a hand; giving a needed hug; offering words of comfort; and respite support by staying with the patient while the caregiver enjoys a moment alone to run errands, make appointments, or simply take time to care for themselves.

We recognize that veterans share a special bond among each other. Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Ozaukee County is seeking volunteers who are interested in making positive change in their community through one-to-one, professionally supported mentoring relationships. In our School-based program, volunteers mentor children in K-8th grades in structured school settings in Ozaukee County. Male and female mentors, aged 16 and older, are needed to start the enrollment process now for volunteer opportunities starting this fall. In this school-based program, volunteers (Bigs) who have been matched with a child (Little) meet weekly for a minimum of one hour during the school day. Together, the volunteer mentor and the child concentrate on academic achievement, recreational activities and emotional development. "Bigs" and "Littles" are matched together based on similar interests and values. Our School-based coordinator provides adult oversight, planned activities, directs match support and outcome measurement. This opportunity is part of United Way's effort to mobilize one million volunteer readers, tutors and mentors nationally to ensure more children graduate from high school.

The Cathedral Center is a shelter for homeless women and families facing an emergency housing crisis. We are home to 32 women and 8 families for up to 90 days while they work with our case managers to achieve a personal action plan.

Volunteers help us keep things running smoothly and provide the comforts of home through our Hospitality Program!

Groups of 5-8 people sign up to provide a meal which they purchase, prepare, and deliver to our clients on a monthly or semi-monthly basis. Through this program we are able to provide a meal 365 days a year! Provide a fun and meaningful education experience for children (schools, scouts, daycares, preschools, etc.) in the Garden!

Tours take place throughout the developed areas of the Garden as well as our natural areas. Tours are typically 1.5 hours in length and can cover between ¾ mile to 1 ½ miles. Each guide will lead 15 to 20 students along with several adult chaperones.

Facilitate guided tours of Green Bay Botanical Garden to youth.

Our Hospital Support volunteers are those individuals who assist at the main entrance with escorting patients and visitors throughout the hospital.

These volunteers help to make our patients and visitors feel welcome.

The general duties also involve helping to transport patients via wheelchair when discharged.

There are some non-patient related transports at times.

April-May ~ take part in Green House transplanting and dividing plants, adding compost and mulch to the flowerbeds, cutting back plants, and removing mulch from roses and planting roses. Spring cleaning in the gardens consists of sweeping, picking up twigs and leaves and other debris.

May-June ~ beautiful summer landscapes require planting annual and perennials flowerbeds, watering plants and fertilizing roses, and of course, mulching, weeding, dead-heading, and digging spent spring-flowering bulbs.

June-Sept ~ maintain the gardens by weeding, mulching, pruning, dead-heading, and staking plants, as well as sweeping, and raking leaves.

Sept-Nov ~help prepare for winter and next spring by planting bulbs and perennials, cleaning up beds, mulching, and putting roses to bed.

We are currently seeking volunteers to assist with various art projects at the Team Cancer Center located at 1580 Commanche Ave. Craft activities are provided for volunteers to offer to patients as they receive treatment or assist with assembling make and take art kits. Specific Duties for This Position: Be at the volunteer office 15 minutes early for your volunteer shift. Pick up an art cart and tour route at volunteer office. Walk through hospital route as assigned by coordinator, and visit with patients, and offer art projects. Ask patients to complete activity surveys after completing their project. Collect surveys and forward to BEAM Coordinator. Restock art cart inventory as needed, prepare supplies for next day, and secure art cart in volunteer office at end of shift.

Pick up meals from preparation site and deliver to elderly and disabled individuals who are home-bound in our community by following a delivery route sheet. Must make contact with each participant before dropping off the meal.

You can deliver meals one day a week or one day every other week. Approximately two hours per day on the day that you drive between the hours of 10:30am-12:00pm. Mileage reimbursement is offered.

Vigil Volunteers sit with patients during the active dying period who might otherwise die alone or provide relief sitting for caregivers. Central Wisconsin SCORE provides free, highly professional advisory services to small businesses and those looking to start a business in western Waupaca, Portage, Wood, northern Waushara and northern Adams counties. Help campus staff with special events held during the day, nights or weekends.  This would include helping with setup, decorations, and perhaps coordinating special projects, updating bulletin boards, and much more. Some light cleaning duties for specific areas. (I.e. Art Gallery, Costume Room, Theatre, etc.) Helping out with Inventory of equipment and supplies would be helpful.

This is 4-6 hours a week with flexible hours.

Is your passion planting flowers or landscaping? This is an opportunity for you to do some flower planting, landscaping, raking, and sweeping throughout the UWSP at Marshfield Campus. Check for any kind of weeding that may need to be done as well as helping to keep the sidewalks clean and possibly other general light yard work may be involved.

Some experience is helpful but not necessary, it is 2-3 hours in the winter and about 4-6 hours during the summer time with flexible hours.

Administrative/office volunteers needed at the UWSP at Marshfield Campus. Some of the activities involve filing, data entry, answering the phone, customer service, and other light office duties. We ask that there is some knowledge in Microsoft Word.

This would be about 4-8 hours a week and are flexible hours.

Love coffee and good food? Our Doc Rock Café is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to make coffee drinks, take food orders, use a computerized cash register, and provide excellent customer service. It's a great way to interact with visitors, staff, and other volunteers in a fun environment. Training is provided. This is an excellent opportunity for volunteers of all ages, but has been especially popular with some of our high school volunteers (plus great job experience!). Volunteers sign up for weekly or twice-per-month 3- or 4-hour shifts. 

This is our traditional one-to-one mentoring option where children and volunteer mentors meet 2-4 times per month throughout the Milwaukee and Waukesha communities. Matches spend time together engaged in activities they choose based on mutual interest. Each match is unique and develops a schedule that works for them. Match outings are flexible and easy to plan. Activities can include playing sports, going over schoolwork, visiting a museum, volunteering together, or just hanging out.

Matches can participate in many events planned by Big Brothers Big Sisters throughout the year too! 

Bigs and Littles are matched based on similar interests, personalities, experiences, and distance from each other.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee serves a targeted population of youth ages 6-18 facing adversity throughout Milwaukee and Waukesha counties. Heartland Hospice volunteers help to support and enhance the quality of life of those they visit. Vets-for-vets volunteers offer services such as: companionship by just being present for the patient and offering to talk or assisting with non-medical tasks; emotional support through active listening, sharing experiences and stories; allowing for expression of feelings; holding a hand; giving a needed hug; offering words of comfort; and respite support by staying with the patient while the caregiver enjoys a moment alone to run errands, make appointments, or simply take time to care for themselves.

We recognize that veterans share a special bond among each other. The goal of our vets-for-vets volunteer opportunity is to match veteran patients with a hospice-trained veteran who may have a similar background. All patient visitor volunteers receive training regarding the philosophy of hospice, the role of the volunteer and other staff members, as well as, helpful skills in caring for and communicating with hospice patients and their families. Volunteers are needed to plant seeds, plants, water and maintain growth of vegetable plants for Green Power garden plots.  The garden is supported by U.W. Extension and you will be guided by a master gardener during your shift. 

We welcome a large variety of shifts every day of the week, and look forward to matching your schedule and ours.  We suggest approximately a two hour shift but we are flexible.   Individuals, corporate groups, community groups and families are welcome and needed to support our community!

We start our efforts in Spring and garden throughout the summer and early Fall.  Later in the season harvesting, weighing and possible delivery needed also.  Thousands of pounds of fresh produce is provide to local pantries and those in need.  

Plots are sectioned off to assist with social distancing and gardening tools are available.  If you have your favorite shovel, rake or weed trimmer, bring it along.  The garden is near 164 and Hwy 59.  We will provide complete directions upon confirming your shift.  

We do encourage you to bring sun screen, bug spray, water and work gloves.

What do you need?

Share your passion, have fun, and positively impact girls by sharing your time to lead or assist activities at events. Activities are already created and materials provided. Some events may require a specific skill like outdoor cooking or knitting, but many require no prior knowledge at all. Events are held year round and volunteering is very flexible. You can pick what interests you, specific dates, and determine how frequently you would want to volunteer. During the school year, a majority of events are held on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings and afternoons, with some events held on weeknights. During the summer, events are during the weekday and some Saturday mornings and afternoons. At many events, girls rotate through various stations; each station focusing on a specific project or skill that may fulfill a requirement for the recognition they are working towards. We need lots of extra hands to lead or assist at these stations. Event topics include environmental awareness, outdoor skills, the arts, health and wellness, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), business literacy and more!

Volunteers are required to wear a face mask while indoors at a GSWISE property or when they are within 6 feet of others on the property.  Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own face masks but if they do not have one, a mask will be provided for them.  We have hand sanitizer and cleaning products available in each facility, which are cleaned and disinfected daily.  All GSWISE staff members will be wearing masks when working with girls and volunteers. Help co-facilitate our children's classes.  Volunteer for one or more classes. Supportive and experienced individuals are needed to facilitate alcohol and drug recovery groups. Volunteers are asked to share their experience, strength and hope with community members who are new to recovery or seeking assistance to show that recovery does work.

Volunteers visit sites throughout Waukesha County (Health and Human Services, Jail, Huber, Mental Health Center, and more) with a partner to provide support for community members who have alcohol, drug dependency and other addictions. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and experiences. Annually our volunteers lead over 500 recovery groups. Each group is one hour in length and we ask volunteers to minimally assist with one group per month. Groups are currently run weekdays, weekends, and weeknights.

When visitors enter Olbrich's Botanical Center, usually the first people they encounter are the Garden Greeters in the lobby. These volunteers offer info about how to enjoy Olbrich. If you are a people-person, this is the volunteer job for you! Greeters volunteer for two 3.5 hour shifts monthly (9-12:30 or 12:30-4:00); two greeters are scheduled for each shift, 7 days a week. Training is provided. Most Olbrich Greeters sign up for a 6-month commitment and stay for years.

SCORE provides mentoring to small businesses and startups through a network of trained volunteers. Training is provided through staff-supported onboarding, online training modules and local co-mentoring sessions with experienced chapter mentors. The Fox Cities SCORE chapter covers 8 counties, with an office location in Appleton.

This opportunity requires 10 years of restaurant business experience. SCORE mentor opportunities provide flexibility, as you schedule your meetings with assigned clients at mutually agreeable times.

Older adults and people with disabilities needing someone to drive and assist in running errands, grocery shopping, doctor visits, etc. Some will want a companion to accompany them, others may just need a ride or help to pick up items for them. Flexible to meet client needs and your schedule. 

In addition to our usual volunteer registration process, you'll need to be authorized by us to drive a client.  We'll need a copy of your driver's license, proof of insurance and consent to conduct a driver's record check.

Looking for reliable volunteers on the weekends at Mulder Health Care Facility who like working with older adults.

Volunteers will be coming independently (without rec therapy staff there to lead) once comfortable after a short orientation and can do 1 on 1 visits or small group activities appropriate for our residents. Keep in mind, many of our residents have dementia or Alzheimer's so games usually have to be simple or modified.  Examples of things to do with our residents:  visiting, crafts, being read to, puzzles/crosswords, reminisce, anything musical, etc. Recreation Therapy can also set you up with materials if needed.

When: any time throughout the weekend. For our residents, typically the best time is in between meals in the late morning (between 9:30-11:30), afternoons, or early evening.

Mulder Health Care Facility requires all volunteers to have a short orientation, a recent TB test (can be done at our facility for no charge), and a background check. Since we require these things to be done, we prefer our volunteers to at least have a time commitment of around 3 months or equivalent in the frequency of your hours to make it worth your time and ours.  Come have fun with the elderly! As a volunteer in the Arboretum visitor center you will greet and welcome people from across Madison and around the world. You'll help people have a good visit by answering questions, suggesting tour routes, providing maps and other brochures. Welcome & information desk volunteers also answer phones and direct calls to appropriate staff people, and occasionally help with clerical tasks. This is a great position for outgoing people with good communication skills who want to foster a welcoming, inclusive experience for visitors of all identities.

We offer training as needed for potential volunteers. Staff and experienced volunteers provide the training. We also offer continuing education opportunities so volunteers can learn more about the Arboretum and the natural world. Agrace has beautiful gardens thanks to the labor and love of gardening volunteers! The gardens provide a peaceful and renewing space for Agrace patients, visitors, and staff. Agrace is looking for volunteers to help care for the grounds and gardens at our facility in Fitchburg. Volunteers work weekly or every-other-week during the spring/summer/fall season. Duties include planting, watering, weeding, mulching and enjoying bringing joy to others. Volunteers should be comfortable digging, lifting, bending, etc. and enjoy being outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. 

Requirements for this position include the following; completion of the volunteer application, 2 references, 2-step TB test and attendance at an orientation session. Volunteers will be given general hospice gardening training prior to being assigned a particular gardening area.

Inpatient and Residential Unit Direct Care Volunteers will provide companionship to patients by sitting bedside, assist patients with menu selections, deliver meals, assist with feeding patients and taking patients for walks around the Agrace building in Fitchburg. They will also help with other needs as they arise.

Volunteers will provide companionship to patients living in Long-Term Care Facilities (i.e. Nursing Homes, Assisted Living Facilities). Volunteers will help support our patients and families by providing companionship to patients, running errands, reading to patients, providing transportation, feeding patients, or providing a quiet caring presence. We serve patients all throughout south central Wisconsin, so volunteers can choose to visit patients who live in their own community.

The requirements for this volunteer position include the following: Completion of the application process, complete a 1-hour virtual orientation and a 1-hour virtual home care training. Volunteer must be at least 16 years of age and will require background checks, a 2-step TB test and yearly TB screening.

Are you interested in helping create excellent food for Agrace patients, families, and staff? Volunteers assist our skilled & fun kitchen staff by preparing food, restocking the coffee and nutrition centers, and generally helping around the kitchen. The Agrace kitchen focuses on creating delicious and creative meals using fresh ingredients and local produce. We welcome volunteers who have food preparation experience, and those who are just starting to cook and want to learn more!

All volunteers must complete the application process, including 2 references and attendance at an orientation session. All volunteers must complete a 2-step TB test and annual TB screening and be at least 15 years of age.

Hospitality volunteers greet and serve as a resource for visitors to Agrace in Fitchburg. Hospitality volunteers answer questions, walk visitors to patient rooms, and provide a welcoming presence to our facility. Day and evening shifts are available on weekends (as well as days and evenings on weekdays) and can be very flexible. Volunteers are welcome to bring a book or small project to work on between assisting visitors, so it's a great opportunity for students, crafters, etc.

Requirements for this position include completion of the application process, orientation, and organizational training. Volunteer must be at least 15 years of age and will require a 2-step TB test and annual TB screening.

The Agrace Thrift Stores (East and West Madison, the Homestore, and Janesville) are looking for volunteers to help primarily with cashiering and providing customer service. The Thrift Stores are a very dynamic environment with a very strong sense of community. Volunteers are asked to make a commitment of volunteering at least once a week (M-F) or every other week for a 4-hour Saturday shift (shift times vary: M-Sat 9am-1pm or 1-5pm). Training is provided.

Volunteers must be 16 years old. Volunteers must complete a volunteer application, complete an online orientation and complete a background check.

9th and 10th grade math & science students at East High School are involved in small-group investigations on an almost daily basis. Staff and volunteer assistants in the classroom are instrumental in helping students to focus their inquiries and to discover general principles of beginning algebra, geometry,introductory biology, and general chemistry. Individual attention has proven to be critical for many students as they manipulate materials and acquire and refine their understandings.

A volunteer may circulate between  groups of 3-4 students, or may develop an ongoing relationship with a single group. Volunteers ask leading questions and help students to clarify their thoughts, rather than teach new material. One-to-one tutoring/mentoring opportunities also become available from time to time.

RESTRICTIONS: Volunteers must authorize the school district to perform a basic background check. Training is available "on-the-job" from the classroom teacher, with additional resources, such as texts and videotapes available upon request.

East High School offers on-line language study programs in Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Korean, and Japanese. Students are highly motivated young people with an interest in independent work, and at least 3 year's successful study of another foreign language. Learning will be facilitated by professional instructors, but additional conversation partners and tutors are also needed. Volunteers may work with students in individual or small group settings.

Arabic, Mandarin Chinese or Japanese speakers, both native and non-native. Volunteers would work with beginning/intermediate high school students as tutors and conversation partners, practicing simple conversations in the target language and/or conducting more advanced cultural conversations in English.

9:10 am and 1:45 pm Tuesday through Friday, 2018-2019

RESTRICTIONS: Native experience or intermediate/advanced study in Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, or Japanese. School District policy requires that all volunteers working directly with students complete a form authorizing a basic background check, the results of which will determine eligibility for placement.

Help special needs students in their interaction with simple text for employment and daily living. Duties will include listening and reading to students.

RESTRICTIONS: All volunteers who will work directly with students in the Madison Metropolitan School District are required to pass a basic background check.

Assist with afterschool homework as a tutor--high school subjects. Afterschool clubs also need recreation directors--assist with performance, cooking, sporting, and other clubs that students have already created, or propose a new one based on your own interest and expertise.

RESTRICTIONS: All volunteers working directly with students are subject to basic background checks conducted by the Madison Metropolitan School District, the results of which may affect eligibility for placement. Participants in recreational clubs may be required to sign additional liability waivers due to physical activity involved.

Volunteers would work with advanced high school French or Spanish students as tutors and conversation partners. Hours are flexible and volunteers can work as many hours as desired. See primary school contact for fall schedule information.

RESTRICTIONS: Tutors should be native or experienced speakers of French or Spanish, including fluency in reading and writing the target language. All volunteers who work directly with students must pass a basic background check conducted by the Madison Metropolitan School District

It takes a special volunteer to become a Wish Granter, so training is involved. Additionally, we do screen all applicants for this position.

Being a Wish Granter is a very rewarding and sometimes humbling experience. We are in need of wish granters in your county of Wisconsin. With the help of our generous community, Porchlight's Donation Center is able to provide items to support our shelter guest and residents who are currently and formerly homeless. Through our housing case managers, outreach workers, and Porchlight programs we are able to help Porchlight guests stay clean and warm while they are without a home.

The donation center is an important tool for Porchlight to achieve its goal of providing a hand up and not a hand out.

RESTRICTIONS: Volunteer must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.

Help out the students of Northside Elementary while they are attending a FREE doctor appointment!  We need help with greeting the students and parents, handing out the proper paperwork and guiding the parents to community services.

The clinic will be open Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Stable Hands can use windex, spray cleaners, liquid hand soap as well as Kleenex, toilet paper and paper towels.

Volunteer van drivers transport families to and from the hospital so they can be by their child's side, and on occasion take House guests to run errands around the local Madison area. Van drivers also run errands for the House such as grocery shopping, donation pick-ups, and putting gas in the van.

We are looking for weekly volunteers for weekend and weekday shifts on an on-call as needed basis. 

RESTRICTIONS: Volunteer drivers must be 21 years of age or older, have a valid driver's license with a good record and be in good general health. Volunteers must be dependable, flexible, independent and friendly.

Volunteer van drivers are required to participate in New Volunteer Training to familiarize themselves with RMHC and its mission, as well as van policies and procedures.

The Colonial Club Senior Activity Center serves a lunchtime meal on site at the Colonial Club on weekdays to local seniors.  We are looking for volunteers interested in helping once a week, twice a week, or on a substitute basis.

These volunteers will be involved in packaging meals for the Meals on Wheels program, assembling lunch items, setting tables, serving meals, general clean up, and washing dishes using a commercial dish machine.  Volunteers may be asked to assist with any combination of these tasks.  

Shifts will be either 9:00 a.m. (or 10:00) to 12:30 p.m, depending on tasks assigned.

A regular one day weekly commitment is desirable.  It is very important for volunteers in this role to commit to his/her scheduled day/time, as volunteer assistance is essential to our being able to serve the on-site meals and to prepare the home delivered meals for local seniors. 

Volunteer needs to be comfortable in a standing position.

Volunteers are required to undergo a background check.

Our residents thoroughly enjoy music and have requested more background music to be played during their meal times. We have electric and acoustic pianos available in our main dining room to play, but we welcome other instruments as well.

RESTRICTIONS: Ideally, Activity Director will sit down with you and go through our mission at Ingleside and a short general orientation to the facility before our volunteers are sent out on their own.
