Help organize and label our growing school library.  Duties include labeling new inventory, filing books in the correct area, and moving books and shelves.

Dane County is becoming Dementia Friendly, but it needs your help. This is a grass roots, community wide effort. We need volunteers who are willing to spread the word in their community. We need people to talk to business owners to explain what it means to be dementia friendly and to encourage them to sign up for the free training. We need help promoting dementia awareness activities in your neighborhood and town. We also need leaders! Are you connected in your community or neighborhood? If so, you can become a leader in this movement in your area. Contact the ADRC to learn how to get involved!

Do you have a friendly, gentle, well-mannered dog who loves getting and giving attention?  You and your dog can light up the day of Agrace Patients! Volunteers and their dogs are needed to visit with Agrace patients living in long-term care facilities in the community, or at the Madison Inpatient Unit. Dogs must be registered therapy dogs through one of our partnering therapy dog organizations.  Volunteer must be at least 18 years old.

Professional, licensed cosmetologists or barbers are needed to provide occasional haircuts or styling to Agrace patients in our patients' homes. Sometimes hospice patients are unable to leave their homes for haircuts or styling; in other circumstances, patients would like to have hair styled for an upcoming event (birthday/anniversary). Providing this volunteer service is a compassionate gesture that improves quality of life for our patients. The requirements for this volunteer position include the following: Complete the volunteer application process and a 12-hour training course, which is provided by Agrace . Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

Our affordable door-to-door transportation service for adults 60 years and older and people with disabilities has been around for over 50 years, helping thousands of people in our community remain independent.

The success of our service has been largely dependent on volunteer drivers. Please help us continue to make a difference in our community by helping those in need lead a more fulfilling and self-sufficient lifestyle!

Volunteers must have a valid Wisconsin driver license, be 18 years or older, have a good driving record, and complete a minimum of two ride-along shifts with a current volunteer driver.

Flexible Schedule | Shifts are 4-5 hours long with AM/PM options;
Morning route - 7:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Afternoon route - 12:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Vehicles Provided | Fleet of vehicles includes sedans, accessible
mini-vans and buses.

Due to COVID-19 social distancing rules, we are currently looking for volunteer drivers who are comfortable driving our larger vehicles, mini-vans and buses.

What is HELP?

The Hospital Elder Life Program is a service provided by Aurora Lakeland Medical Center and Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington to improve the hospital experience of older patients. The program is dedicated to providing personalized care for seniors by supporting and encouraging independence.

 Why?

Being in the hospital upsets normal routines of mental and physical activity just at the time a person is coping with illness. The Hospital Elder Life Program helps keep the mind and body as active as possible in spite of illness.

 What do we do?

Specially trained volunteers provide extra care to older adults in the hospital including:

Daily Volunteer Visits

Daily visits designed to keep you alert and oriented, while providing support and socialization.

Meal-time Assistance

Daily visits to assist with filling out your menu or setting up your meal tray if that is needed.

Early Mobilization

Promote strength and mobility through range of motion and walking opportunities.

Recreational Activities

Provide stimulating and enjoyable activities to help you stay mentally focused to keep the mind and body active. Our volunteers can also assist with relaxation exercises that can help reduce stress during the hospital stay.

Fluid Balance

Reminders to stay hydrated by drinking adequate amounts of liquids daily.

Sleep and Rest

If you have trouble sleeping, we share instructions for you, your family and caregiving staff on how to improve sleep while in the hospital

Looking for dog owners to bring their dogs and visit residents.  The dogs must be well behaved and be up to date on all of their shots.  Please consider brightening our residents’ days with a visit from your furry friend.

            Hours for this position are very flexible and we will work with your schedule.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals willing to help assist with BINGO.  Duties of this position may include helping bring residents to BINGO, calling numbers, assisting residents who are playing, and passing out prizes. 

            Available hours for this positions are on Wednesdays between 2:00 and 4:00.

We are looking for caring, able bodied individuals to help get our residents to different events and activities.  This may include pushing a wheelchair, helping residents find their way, or going on outings and helping staff get the residents where they need to go. 

            There is a high need for this position and hours vary throughout each week.  We are willing to work with your schedule.

Help us care for the cats in our shelter while they await their permanent homes.  Carestaff volunteers help maintain a healthy environment for our cats by providing food, water, clean litterboxes and bedding, as well as some socialization.  Each shift takes about an hour and also includes help with laundry, washing dishes, and light cleaning of our shelter.  We need regular volunteers to commit to weekly or bi-weekly shifts, as well as substitute carestaff to help fill vacancies.  Training is provided.  Come join our team!

Omro Area Community Center teamed up with Omro School District in creating Little Fox Literacy; a volunteer program designed to give extra attention to students reading in school. A background check is required by Omro School District for the safety of its students.

Volunteers are matched by teacher and time availability. Students often read to their volunteer partners, but some volunteers read to groups of students as well. 

Availability is needed between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. (teachers try to find time in their busy schedules for volunteers to come work with their students). Students truly benefit from time spent with their volunteers; volunteers are asked to be punctual and notify either teacher or volunteer coordinator if unable to attend.

Position Description

Seasonal historical interpreters share the stories of Northeastern Wisconsin with visitors of all ages through demonstrations, presentations, storytelling, and performances. They work within a variety of historic buildings, wear period appropriate clothing, and demonstrate traditional skills and crafts. Historic interpreters report to the Director of Engagement.

Experience in or a strong desire to learn skills in one or more of the following areas: blacksmithing, print making, textile art, carpentry, historic cooking, historical reenacting, farming/gardening, music (vocal or instrumental), historic firearms, language skills, 19th century military life, etc.

Work Environment

This position requires primarily outdoor work which can occur in adverse climate conditions. Work may be performed in poorly lit areas, near open fires, and in areas that vary from quiet to loud. Applicants should be able to lift/carry up to 25 lbs. Accommodations can be made on a case-by-case basis and those in need of accommodation are encouraged to apply.

The Let's Go Fishing Northwoods Chapter is searching for Captains and First Mates to take Seniors, handicap, Veterans, children and hospice patients throughout out the fishing season.

Do you have a passion for community and for helping people in need of decent homes? Join Habitat for Humanity in our mission to put God's love into action, bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. You'll lead others in specific construction duties while ensuring safe practices on the build site. You'll also explain tasks to unskilled volunteers in your team.

Builds & repairs happen throughout our tri-county service area.

Training/preparation: Orientation with construction manager and regular meetings about volunteer goals for the work day. Crew leaders are eligible for OSHA training.

Barron County Restorative Justice Programs volunteers can help in many different areas, from helping to register attendees at an event to facilitating Circles, mentoring teens, fund raising or office work, or serving on our advisory board. Volunteers help us to serve more than 2,700 people each year in Barron County. We couldn't run our programs without your help!

Assist aging individuals living at home with simple repairs and maintenance that they wouldn't otherwise be able to do on their own or hire out due to restricted finances. Duties may include tightening leaky faucets, changing smoke detectors and light bulbs, weatherizing doors and windows, etc. If you don't know exactly how to fix something we have a team of fix-it guys and gals that can help you out.

Adult Respite Program The purpose of our respite program is to provide individualized and structured activities designed for persons with Alzheimer's and Dementia related diseases in a caring environment; and also to provide respite and support services to caregivers. Our volunteers have the opportunity to become a companion to a hospice patient – what does that entail? 

Really it’s all about giving your attentive presence to another – you focus on your assigned patient to be a “companion”.  We’re looking for people with big hearts, who are good listeners, and okay with just being quiet sometimes and sitting with a patient too.  We request that you have approximately 1-3 hours per week available whenever assigned to a patient, have good personal boundaries and the ability to keep all visits confidential. Our volunteers repeatedly tell us and others, they’ve gained so much more from this volunteer work than they have ever given.  You may offer companionship, help with errands, provide respite to caregivers, assist with writing/reading and answer other patient and family needs.  At end of life your support is greatly appreciated by our staff and those we serve!

The position of Office Volunteer supports CASDA's mission of providing supportive services to individuals hurt by domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse as we advocate for a community effort to end violence. The Office Volunteer serves primarily in the front office, answering calls on our help line, and assisting walk-in clients to ensure their needs are met.

Additional Requirements: Office Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., for a minimum of one shift per week. Shifts may vary in length. A three-month commitment is required and a one-year commitment is appreciated. Volunteers must be 18 years of age (16- or 17-year-olds may be accepted with parental permission). Prospective volunteers are screened via a process that includes an application, interview, background check, and reference checks. Once accepted, volunteers must complete orientation provided by CASDA. PACA is looking for people passionate about and/or interested in community gardening to assist with the second year of planting, care and harvesting of our garden. The garden was built by and planted with the input of our refugee community, with classes led by community partners to teach our youth about gardening and nutrition. It is estimated that nearly 5000 adults in our community lack the literacy skills they need to get better jobs, help their children with homework, or participate fully in society. AmeriCorps, often referred to as a domestic Peace Corps, places individuals within communities to commit a year to serving others. Marshfield Clinic Center for Community Outreach is a national service grantee that oversees the Marshfield Clinic AmeriCorps Volunteer Wisconsin program. Marshfield Clinic AmeriCorps Volunteer Wisconsin places individuals with nonprofit organizations across Wisconsin to build and strengthen volunteer programs. Individuals will receive focused training in volunteer management, then assist with such tasks as: recruiting, training and supervising volunteers; creating volunteer handbooks, application forms, and brochures; writing position descriptions; updating website content and coordinating social media; and other (non-volunteer) tasks specific to the mission of the nonprofit.

What does it mean to serve?

Applicants must be willing to serve for the duration of the term of service (1700 hours minimum), averaging approximately 35-40 hours a week. Members must also be able to handle the financial commitment made by accepting the position. Sometimes hospice patients are unable to leave their homes for haircuts or styling; in other circumstances, patients would like to have hair styled for an upcoming event (birthday/anniversary).

Serve as a mentor to individuals seeking employment in the community by assisting with resume writing, filling out job applications, job searches, assisting with computer skills, assisting with soft skills while providing a supportive and encouraging atmosphere. Agrace is a nonprofit health care agency that provides supportive care to patients and their families through the stages of a chronic, serious or life-limiting illness. We depend on the time and talents of specially trained volunteers, who assist our patients, families and staff in a variety of ways.  Additional Requirements: The requirements for this volunteer position include the following: Complete the volunteer application process and orientation session. Volunteers will complete a 12-hour training course, which is provided by Agrace to prepare you for your volunteer role. Most roles require a commitment of 50 volunteer hours within the first year of service. Volunteers typically volunteer 2-4 hours either weekly or every other week.

It is our goal that you will form a working relationship with our youth in order to best provide your services; these services will range from tutoring and helping with class assignments to counseling and being a positive role model for the youth. You will meet with the youth about once a week based on a schedule determined at volunteer orientation depending on your availability. Mentor Superior is seeking positive adult role models to spend time with youth in the Duluth/ Superior community. Amanda, age 16 said " My mentor has helped me become who I am today. Mentors are assigned a Program Advocate who provides support and advice. Matches meet one on one in the community and mentors take on an independent role in communicating with the mentee's family and coordinating activities.

Be the person who inspires a child to learn more. The student tutor will work one-on-one with students in the area of reading or mathematics. Teachers will provide the materials and the detailed instructions on how to use the materials with each student. The extra practice the student receives may determine the level of success the student experiences. Volunteers will provide the means for Marshfield Clinic healthcare providers to look beyond the usual scope of healthcare and offer remedies to social needs like food, shelter, transportation, afterschool care, etc. Volunteers will discuss the patient-specific needs, locate and share resources with the patient, and provide follow up to assure patients are connected with the resources needed.

Volunteers are needed every weekday from 11:00 a.m. to noon to deliver meals to approximately 10 homebound senior citizens and disabled persons. We ask volunteers to deliver one day per week and we try to place volunteers with routes in neighborhoods close to their home or office.
