Organize and advertise fundraising events for Embrace within the community throughout the year.

Help create outreach materials to ask for donations and funding.

Each fall Embrace puts on their own "Men in The Kitchen" fundraiser. Volunteers are needed for set up, take down, assist with raffles, MEN who would like to volunteer to be cooks, look for appropriate venues, bands to perform, etc. LOTS of opportunities with this even!! 

Embrace partners with local agencies during the "Eaux Claires" event. Host a booth and discuss available services while providing resources to survivors of Domestic and or Sexual Abuse. 

Spend time with clients and children. Activities could include reading to children, creative expression through art, organize field trips, outings, and activities for children survivors of domestic abuse and/or sexual assault.

Embrace offers a week long training process for volunteers to acclimate to the organization, the type of work we do, the clients we work with and the process for handling crisis calls & texts.

Embrace Services is seeking individuals to work in the safe shelter answering phones, scheduling appointments, receive and process donations, process mail, etc. 

Lakeview Health Center provides specialized long term care and rehabilitation for adults with various mental, cognitive and health related challenges. Volunteers are needed to assist staff with programs or to engage residents in one to one activities. Volunteer hours are flexible with varied opportunities to fit your needs.

Community Living Alliance (CLA) is a community based, non-profit corporation who is seeking to add members to it's Board of Directors. Become an important part of CLA's mission: "...dedicated to empowering people with disabilities or chronic illnesses and the elderly to live independently and with dignity.  CLA partners with these individuals to acquire personal care and support services needed to promote their quality of life and self-determination."

Meetings are held the fourth Monday of the month at the Madison Public Library.  CLA board members are expected to devote between 3 - 4 hours per month, including preparation time, for these meetings.

The Marshfield Child Advocacy Center (MCAC) is seeking proactive individuals ready to make a difference in the community and the lives of others! Our highest need is for volunteers to provide childcare during their visit to the center. Other possibilities for volunteering includes, but are not limited to:

Volunteer experiences are tailored to meet the interests, skills, and needs of the volunteer.  We are open weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm, and as late as 7 P.M on Tuesdays.  Everyone is encouraged to apply.

In our busy active Club we have approximately 100 or more people though it each day.  This means we are always cleaning.  While we take care of the day to day needs we are always in need of helping hands to do spring and fall type cleaning jobs.  

Cleaning vents, baseboards, edges.  Move furniture and clean behind it.  Clean furniture, organize toys and games.  Organize art supplies.  We have both hard labor jobs and light/no lifting jobs

Need volunteers to do while the children are not here.  Which would be before 2:30 pm on school days.

We provide all cleaning supplies.

Assist our Club staff member (Kids Cafe Cook) in preparing, serving and/or cleaning up our daily meal.  We serve a hot after school meal to approximately 100 children every school day.

We welcome help anytime we are preparing meals for Club members.  The most helpful shifts are Monday - Friday from 2:00 - 5:00 pm.  You many volunteer for 1-3 hours per day.

Spend time reading with children.  Allow them to read to you, for better reading skills.  Assist with a homework area of your choice, science, math, reading, English, social studies.  Work under supervision of a Club staff member.

Purpose:    To assist a youth in a subject area needed while instilling a sense of competency, usefulness, belonging and influence.

 Reading Homework Assistant :  must have safety in mind at all times; relate to staff what progress the youth is making; and relate to staff what additional assistance is needed.

Assist with set up and clean up of the homework room.  

We welcome help anytime we are open for Club members.  They most helpful shifts are Monday - Friday from 3:45 p - 4:45 pm and/or 4:45 pm to 5:45 pm

Children welcome with volunteers if they are age 7 or older.

Assist Club Staff is supervision of the Game Room.  Room had board games, pool, air hockey, fuse-ball and carpet ball.  Engage with Club members, play games with them.

Purpose:    To aide the program staff in providing fun, safe, and challenging activities that instill a sense of competency, usefulness, belonging and influence.

 The Game Room Aide must: have safety in mind at all times; have the ability to mediate conflicts; have the ability to “play” with youth; have the ability to relate to youth the consequences of their decisions; and relate to staff what additional assistance, supplies, and guidelines are needed.

We welcome help anytime we are open for Club members.  They most helpful shifts are Monday - Friday from 3:45 p - 4:45 pm and/or 4:45 pm to 5:45 pm

Children welcome with volunteers if they are age 7 or older.

Purpose:    To teach a musical skill to youth that will promote a sense of competency, usefulness, belonging and influence.

The Music Leader:  must have safety in mind at all times; relate to staff what age group and instruments they can teach; relate to staff what supplies are needed two weeks in advance; and relate to staff what assistance is needed.

We welcome any musical teaching.  The Club owes approximately 6 guitars and 3 keyboards.  At our teen center we have a drum set and digital art studio, so club members can record their music

Become a Certified Children's Vision Screener! Help us identify children with potential vision problems and set them on the road to healthy vision through children's vision screenings in your community.  

Founded in 1958 by a group of dedicated volunteers, Prevent Blindness Wisconsin's mission is to prevent blindness and preserve sight in Wisconsin communities. We envision a Wisconsin where everyone enjoys a lifetime of healthy vision and we work toward this goal by providing free, direct sight-saving services, such as vision screenings, throughout the state.

Volunteers help with vision screenings at schools and childcare centers throughout Dane County that otherwise do not have the capacity to screen the children at their schools and centers. All volunteers are required to attend a Prevent Blindness Wisconsin sponsored Children's Vision Screener Training. The training will go over how to vision screen school-age and preschool age children and the last step is to attend a short virtual volunteer orientation. The children’s vision screening certification is good for 3 years. No previous experience with health care or vision screenings is necessary. This is an opportunity for individual adults, teens and small groups (maximum size of 5).

Volunteers are required to complete and pass a background check and Children’s Vision Screener Training before volunteering. To sign up for our online training, please email Breanna at breanna@pbwi.org for the sign-up link.

Time commitment: Vision screenings typically take place on weekday mornings. Depending on classroom size, screenings take between 1 and 3 hours. Vision screenings start in September and go through May.

We need two volunteers to fill the leadership positions at our STEM Scouts Lab at PJ Jacobs Junior High and Amherst Middle School. The volunteers would be responsible for leading 5-15 youth in fun, hands on projects that allow them to explore science, technology, engineering, and math. This is a coed program for kids in grades 6-8. The lab meets once a week for 90 minutes from December-May. The PJ Jacobs Junior High lab meets on Thursdays from 6-7:30 pm and the Amherst Middle School Lab meets from 3:30-5 pm on Tuesdays. At least one volunteer has to be 21 years of age. We provide training, a specific curriculum to follow that is written at the national level of the BSA, and all of the supplies are sent to you in the mail. We will be there to help the leaders through the first meeting. The sponsor of the lab is Wildcard Corporation so the volunteers will have short term assistance from STEM Professionals and opportunities for field trips. We have kids all signed up and a place to meet we just need an enthusiastic leader in order to bring this great program to the kids. Please let me know if you are interested as soon as possible.  

First Choice is looking for male mentors and advocates to provide services to male clients. Volunteer expectations will include completing advocate training and having at least five available hours a week during operating hours. First Choice is also looking for a male to help re-design the "Fatherhood Program and Mentorship Program."

First Choice is seeking volunteer individuals with active LPN or RN licensure to provide pregnancy tests, accurate pregnancy education for women and couples seeking resources, as well as teach classes including labor and delivery, breastfeeding, post-partum health, and an overview of CPR/first aid. Hours of operation are between 10am - 5pm Monday- Thursday. Volunteers will be fully trained as advocates and are asked to provide a minimum of five hours of volunteer services per week.

McFarland Youth Center is looking for responsible adults to work with middle school youth after school on homework and goal setting. 

Our community center carpets are in dire need of being carpet cleaned. 

We need a few people who are willing to come in to help us carpet clean our large carpeted area.

(The ability to bring a carpet cleaner along would be amazing but we will rent a couple if we need to)

We also need volunteers for organization of different youth center areas. 

The most important qualification for our volunteers is the ability to communicate and work with a diverse population of clients.  Our program targets both the low income and elderly population.  It also helps to have basic computer skills – nothing fancy.  We will volunteers on the skills they need to prepare simple tax returns and they will work with another volunteer in preparing the returns.  Volunteers need to be able to attend three days of tax training along with some self-study coursework.  Finally, they need to have times open on at least one of the days we prepare the returns – Thursday and Friday at the Lincoln Center and Saturday at the library.

We need volunteers for three training days in January.  The actual tax preparation takes place during the months of Feb, March and half of April on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The prospective volunteer does not need to be at every day or week that we do taxes.

Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital is seeking adults looking for an opportunity to volunteer.  We have immediate shift openings for people who are energetic, friendly and customer service orientated. We look for someone able to commit to 4 hours once a week for a minimum of 6 months to a year.

The Warehouse Alliance has multiple volunteer opportunities in our program the Warehouse.

The Warehouse is an all-ages concert venue that serves no alcohol.  National bands come through when they are on their way up, like Fall out Boy, Mudvayne, Nine Inch Nails, My Chemical Romance, Motion City Soundtrack, Mod Sun, Wookiefoot, POS, etc. 
We have young local bands perform with the national touring bands, to get real-feel concert experience. 
All of this gives the young adults of the area ongoing opportunities to congregate and enjoy music without being hounded to buy alcohol, consume drugs, etc.  Everyone that comes to shows is there to see and hear the bands and hang with their friends, as well as meeting new friends.

The Warehouse Alliance is the 501c3 non-profit that oversees operations of the Warehouse.

We have needs for assistance in several positions at the venue and offsite:
 

• Soda Bartenders - Work the soda bar during shows and other events.  Warehouse has a bar with an extensive soda list, with sodas from the US, Canada, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Mexico, Croatia, and more.

• Poster Distribution - Hang show and event posters around the Coulee Region at businesses and especially at schools.  Looking for intelligent students willing to be the liaison between Warehouse Alliance and Resident Hall Directors at UWL, Viterbo, and Winona State University.

• Load In Crew - Get a behind the scenes look at the music industry and assist bands with bringing gear in and getting set up.  This really isn't a job for someone who is small in stature or weak -- we have LOTS of stairs and music gear is not light.

• Load Out Crew - See behind the scenes and help with tear down and moving band gear outside.  This really isn't a job for someone who is small in stature or weak - we have LOTS of stairs and music gear is not light.

• Stage Crew - Help move equipment around, onto, and offstage during and before the show.  Adjust microphones, stands, assist bands.

• Box Office - Sell tickets to shows directly to people coming for the event, also for future events, greet guests, help direct bands.

• Cleaning/Maintenance - this can be anything from painting to window repair to stage equipment repair and more.  Usually during down times when there is no show.

• Data Entry - We are beginning to sort 28 years of concert posters, with the goal of scanning each poster and recording important show information into a massive searchable database for our website, for future generations to enjoy.

• Graphic Design - Upon occasion we are interested in people to work on posters, flyers, and our websites.

Partnered with the Marathon County Park Department, the Marathon County Historical Society's Little Red Schoolhouse provides 4th grade students county-wide the unique opportunity of experiencing a day in a 1900's one room schoolhouse.

We are looking for individuals to work with our current teachers, and to fill positions should they become available. Dress in period costume and take students back in time with our curriculum that includes McGuffey Readers, spelling bees, recitation and penmanship.

There are Spring and Fall sessions. Teachers generally take one or 2 days per week.

This volunteer will assist our Curator of Education prepare and present historical programs for students and the community.

If you have a love of history and a bit of creativity, this position could take you throughout Wausau and Marathon County! 

Hours and tasks will vary, but preparation is generally Tuesday-Friday afternoons. Programs and events may include hosting school groups at the Historical Society, helping with booths at events like Harvest Fest or Winterfest, etc.

CHANGING THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE

Junior Achievement (JA) connects Wisconsin's South Central Region teachers with community volunteers who have a passion for education and want to help students learn how to become successful in a global economy.  

JA provides the curriculum for over twenty K-12 classroom programs. Volunteers are trained to teach the program and grade level they choose. All classroom programs use games, activities. and hands-on learning to teach students financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and workforce-readiness skills. On average, volunteers are in the classroom 5 to 7 times for 30- to 45-minutes per visit. Teachers are always present, and the volunteer is running all activities and presenting materials to the students.

Volunteers are needed for the remainder of the current school year. After volunteers choose a JA program and grade level, JA staff connect them with a teacher. The volunteer and teacher arrange the dates and times when the JA program will be taught in the classroom.

Volunteer advocates are the heart and soul of First Choice Pregnancy Resource Center. Advocates are trained to provide resources and educate clients who are in need of services. Advocates provide pregnancy tests, options education, teach HOPE (Hands on Parenting Education) classes, and provide community resources and referrals. Advocates will need to fill out a volunteer application, receive a background check, and be fully trained before providing services. Volunteer Board Members make up the Board of Directors for First Choice Pregnancy Resource Center. Help work in the sustainable greenhouse and environmental learning center to water plants, maintain growing systems, repair small items, clean spaces, maintain the library, create museum signage and enjoy the beautiful space.

With only one part time staff member at our parks, we rely on volunteers to help us with our environmental education programs. If you love kids, this opportunity is right for you. Duties for this include:

-Assist during field trips. This may mean that you are leading an activity

Interested in working outdoors to improve local parks. We have a great Tuesday morning work crew AKA the Buckthorn Brigade or Litter Picker Uppers. This group meets regularly on Tuesday mornings at 8:45 AM till usually 11AM. Emails are communicated with those who are interested to let them know what the task will be for that week. Come for one Tuesday or come for them all. Come for the whole time or for a little bit of the time. This group is critical in helping the park.

Duties may include:

-Removing buckthorn via pesticide, cutting, chipping, or chainsawing

-Picking up litter

-Attaching signs to the park

-Clearing Trails

Looking for a great opportunity to help park visitors? Nature Center hosts help staff the nature center completing the following duties:

1) Greet visitors

2) Answer visitor questions to the best of their knowledge regarding the park

3) Make gift shop sales

4) May do general cleaning tasks like vacuuming

5) Maybe perform opening and closing procedures (turning on lights, locking doors)

You may sign up to cover part of a shift or a whole shift. Our nature center is only open when we are not doing programming and when we have volunteers to staff it. We try and have the center open at least from noon-4pm daily.

Ministry We Honor Veterans Hospice Volunteer

Ministry Hospice is seeking Veterans that would visit the homes of patients that are Veterans themselves to celebrate and honor their service.  Every Veteran receiving hospice care will receive a lapel pin, a patriotic lap quilt, and a framed certificate of appreciation.

La Crescent High School is seeking individuals to help tutor students in Math.  There are two opportunities to do so.  One is during the school day, during our Flex Period.  This Flex period runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7:55-8:28am.  We are seeking individuals interested in coming during any of those days/periods to help reteach math to students in need.

We also have families looking for individual tutors for their children.  This would be scheduled between the person interested and the family.  Depending on the student/family, there may be compensation for the tutoring, but it is not expected.

Band Committee

This committee is responsible for listening to, assessing, recommending for booking local and area bands and DJ's.  Of specific importance to this committee is to contract with ethnically and musically diverse bands.

Logistics Committee

This committee has the responsibility of planning and coordinating the routine activities for each night of Dane Dances.

Publicity Committee

This committee ensures that Dane Dances and its mission and activities are consistently presented in a positive way to the public.

Fund-Raising Committee

This committee is responsible for fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying what funding is needed; exploring funding sources; creating strategies to approach potential sponsors; and assisting in preparation of proposals and presentations.

The Board of Directors in conjunction with the Members, the Board is responsible for overall policy and direction of the organization, and delegates responsibility for day-to-day operations to the Organization's Director and committees.

The specific duties of the Board shall include, but not limited to the following:

(a) Approving the budget for the organization and any major expenditure of funds which may be recommended by the Director.

(b) Evaluating and approving policies relating to the operation of the organization to ensure that the organization is governed in a manner best suited to serve it Members.

(c) Reviewing the Director's reports on the status and progress of the organization and advising the Director of any recommended changes in the organization.

(d) Selecting the Officers who will serve on the Executive committee.

(e) Appointing successors for Board members who resign or are removed.

(f) Making decisions concerning the general business of the organization when there is a conflict with the Members under this section para C.

(g) Enhancing the Organization's public image by helping to articulate the organization's mission, accomplishments and goals, as well as gathering support from the community.

(h) Working in partnership with the Director and Fundraising Committee to raise funds from the community.

The board receives no compensation.

The Historical Society could use some extra hands to help with donated material that needs to be processed and put into our data base. Some knowledge with excel is helpful but not necessary; however, attention to detail is key. The NWCHS Coordinator will oversee and direct each project.

Material includes archival documents and some artifacts.

The main office at the Colonial Club Senior Activity Center is the center of all activities and programs.  

Volunteers answer phones, transfer calls, register members for activities/programs, take payments for programs/services, write receipts, assist guests, answer questions, and direct guests to locations around the building.

Shifts are either 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., or 12:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

Volunteers are required to undergo a background check.  Training is provided, and a six month commitment is desired.  A regular one day weekly commitment is desirable, but biweekly and substitute positions are also available.  It is very important for the volunteer in this role to commit to his/her scheduled time.

The Adult Day Center within the Colonial Club Senior Center provides daytime respite care for family members that may not be able to stay home alone, but are not yet ready for a nursing home.  

We are looking for volunteers interested in providing lunchtime assistance.  Tasks will include setting tables, serving meals, clearing/wiping tables, sweeping floor, and providing an additional set of eyes for staff during meal times.

Shifts will be 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

A regular one day weekly commitment is desirable.  Volunteer needs to be comfortable in a standing position.

Saving Paws Animal Rescue, Inc. is a volunteer-run, no-kill animal rescue in Appleton that functions entirely on community support.

Volunteer drivers are needed to help transport domestic violence and/or sexual assault victims to shelter or appointments. A local and state background check, and training must be completed by our agency before volunteering can begin. Mileage for out of town transportation would be reimbursed. Aseracare Hospice is seeking volunteers who are available and willing to provide caregivers with respite volunteering by scheduling a time to visit patients in accordance with the caregivers needs. the time spent with the patient does not have a regular schedule, and may be indirect (e.g. patient companionship is less critical here than having a presence in the home to provide for emergent needs while the care giver is away). Often there is only one visit, but sometimes repeat respite visits are requested. When respite visits are regularly scheduled, they can be filled by any volunteer trained for companioning patients and function as companion visits in all ways, with the caregiver’s needs as the main priority.

REQUIREMENTS:

Aseracare Hospice is seeking volunteers who are willing to provide vigil support to patients and families. Volunteers are available who are willing and able to sit with patient who is actively dying or otherwise in need of immediate support (e.g. for management of symptoms such as anxiety, minimizing fall risk, depression, etc). The visit may address a one time need or a periodic need but differs from a companion assignment in that the focus is on providing support to the patient during a critical time in their hospice care - either while actively dying or while moving through another form of crisis or transition.

The Wood County Volunteer Driver program provides transportation services for the elderly and disabled to medical appointments as well as transportation for Wood County Human Services. We are very much in need of drivers in the Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids area. You will have the opportunity to meet great people. All trips are within the State of Wisconsin. As a volunteer you can drive as much or as little as you like. Volunteer drivers will receive reimbursement for their mileage driven. AseraCare Hospice is seeking volunteers can play a musical instrument and/or can sing and are interested in joining “Harmony of Hearts” a volunteer music outreach program.

“Harmony of Hearts” is a volunteer music outreach that brings peace to the dying and comfort to their families. The music outreach is to create therapeutic music to help brighten the last days/hours of life for patients. Volunteers can visit on their own or we can join together in groups of two or three and visit patients in the area, bringing them the gift of music.

Volunteers interested in this program must be at least 18 years of age. Volunteers under 18 must be supervised by an adult. They must be able to play an instrument or be able to sing.  Instruments with a soft and soothing sound are preferred such as guitar, autoharp or violin etc.  This program is very open and flexible to those special people that are interested in helping others. Volunteers play an important role in providing social support and decreasing isolation that can so often occur for the terminally ill.

Volunteers are provided free training, a training certificate, and can work flexible hours that suit their individual schedules. Volunteer training blends ancient wisdom with contemporary practices.

The greenhouse and gardens are continually looking for individuals or groups to support our on-going programming.  People who are willing to tend gardens, harvest and prepare foods, work with students to construct items in the gardens or help coordinate the maintenance of the greenhouse and gardens are needed.

Volunteers needed for the following:

Daily - meal prep, children's activities, and cleaning

Weekly - sanitizing toys, deep cleaning, children's activities, and arts/crafts prep

Seasonal - shovel snow and salting (emergency exits and sidewalks)

CCFA's mission is: We are an alliance of congregations and people whose passion for community justice is rooted in diverse faith and justice traditions. Together we build relationships that create a more just, compassionate, and responsible community, especially for those who are displaced and marginalized. 

We oversee three projects: Circles of Support for ex-offenders, Share the Bounty for hungry/homeless, and Centro Latino for migrants/immigrants.

A full range of organizational development tasks are in need of volunteers, short and long term. From database building, to accounting, marketing and communication, event management, and fundraising. It's the type of organization and fellowship that changes you more than those we serve.

Share the Bounty attends weekly farmers markets and through relationships with farmers and vendors obtains and distributes to food pantries and directly to people in need over 30,000 pounds of fresh vegetable/fruit produce. Works in the La Crosse county markets. Need include event managers, packers, drivers, and general team participants. Circles of Support (see Circles on www.ccfaithalliance.org) consists of six people who meet with an ex-offender for a minimum of six months to assist in breaking the recidivism cycle and transitioning to a regular life. You are a faithful friend...not a professional counselor or mentor or teacher, etc. Can you be a faithful friend, ready at any time to support someone in their darkest hours as they struggle to break the habits and lifestyle that has led to their often many imprisonments?

Are you experienced with dogs and have a few hours each week to spend providing care to the dogs who temporarily call Saving Paws home?

Shifts will include let-outs to our back runs, kennel cleaning, feeding, watering, walking and socializing.   As time permits you can also work with the dogs on basic commands like sit, stay, down, leave it, so they are better prepared and socialized for their new forever home.

Schedule:We have 4 shifts per day:  Morning: 8am or earlier, Mid-Day: 11-1, Dinner:  3-5pm and Evening: 7-9pm.   

On-boarding: Once you complete general orientation, we will partner you with a trained volunteer who will show you what to do.  You will shadow that person for several shifts until you are comfortable to be on your own. 

We use an on-line scheduling tool called Volunteer Matters for sign ups. The best part is you choose a time that works for you – we do not have regular open hours.

You must be 18 or older to volunteer with the dogs. If you are younger than 18, you can volunteer with an adult or guardian.

Our dog care volunteers are rewarded with wagging tails, happy barks and doggy playtime. Our dogs are always excited to see our volunteers.

Willow Brooke Point Senior Living is seeking volunteers for our activity department. These activities range from calling bingo and painting nails to playing a simple game of cards with our residents. If there is a talent that is wished to be shared with us, we are always willing to have them.

Help your elderly and special needs community neighbors remain in their homes by installing Lifeline equipment in subscriber residence. Volunteers go into the homes throughout Marathon County to install and show the subscriber how to use their personal help button and Lifeline unit. They also provide replacement batteries for personal help buttons and units in subscriber homes, as well as general troubleshooting. Must possess a valid WI drivers license. Training provided.

The Board of Directors of the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra, Inc. is the governing body of the Corporation. The Board provides leadership and direction to the organization by defining its philosophy, mission, objectives, strategy, and goals. Dane County is becoming Dementia Friendly, but it needs your help. This is a grass roots, community wide effort. We need volunteers who are willing to spread the word in their community. We need people to talk to business owners to explain what it means to be dementia friendly and to encourage them to sign up for the free training. We need help promoting dementia awareness activities in your neighborhood and town. We also need leaders! Are you connected in your community or neighborhood? Do you have a friendly, gentle, well-mannered dog who loves getting and giving attention?  You and your dog can light up the day of Agrace Patients! Volunteers and their dogs are needed to visit with Agrace patients living in long-term care facilities in the community, or at the Madison Inpatient Unit. Dogs must be registered therapy dogs through one of our partnering therapy dog organizations.  Volunteer must be at least 18 years old.

Professional, licensed cosmetologists or barbers are needed to provide occasional haircuts or styling to Agrace patients in our patients' homes. Sometimes hospice patients are unable to leave their homes for haircuts or styling; in other circumstances, patients would like to have hair styled for an upcoming event (birthday/anniversary). Providing this volunteer service is a compassionate gesture that improves quality of life for our patients. The requirements for this volunteer position include the following: Complete the volunteer application process and a 12-hour training course, which is provided by Agrace . Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

Our affordable door-to-door transportation service for adults 60 years and older and people with disabilities has been around for over 50 years, helping thousands of people in our community remain independent.

What is HELP?

The Hospital Elder Life Program is a service provided by Aurora Lakeland Medical Center and Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington to improve the hospital experience of older patients. The program is dedicated to providing personalized care for seniors by supporting and encouraging independence.

 Why?

Being in the hospital upsets normal routines of mental and physical activity just at the time a person is coping with illness. The Hospital Elder Life Program helps keep the mind and body as active as possible in spite of illness.

 What do we do?

Specially trained volunteers provide extra care to older adults in the hospital including:

Daily Volunteer Visits

Daily visits designed to keep you alert and oriented, while providing support and socialization.

Meal-time Assistance

Daily visits to assist with filling out your menu or setting up your meal tray if that is needed.

Early Mobilization

Promote strength and mobility through range of motion and walking opportunities.

Provide stimulating and enjoyable activities to help you stay mentally focused to keep the mind and body active. Our volunteers can also assist with relaxation exercises that can help reduce stress during the hospital stay.

Reminders to stay hydrated by drinking adequate amounts of liquids daily.

If you have trouble sleeping, we share instructions for you, your family and caregiving staff on how to improve sleep while in the hospital

Looking for dog owners to bring their dogs and visit residents.  The dogs must be well behaved and be up to date on all of their shots.  Please consider brightening our residents’ days with a visit from your furry friend.

            Hours for this position are very flexible and we will work with your schedule.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals willing to help assist with BINGO.  Duties of this position may include helping bring residents to BINGO, calling numbers, assisting residents who are playing, and passing out prizes. 

            Available hours for this positions are on Wednesdays between 2:00 and 4:00.

We are looking for caring, able bodied individuals to help get our residents to different events and activities.  This may include pushing a wheelchair, helping residents find their way, or going on outings and helping staff get the residents where they need to go.
