We are looking for a volunteer who loves to work with young children. This person would be working on Tuesday mornings through out the school year. Preschool Adventures is a program geared to children ages 1-3 and their parents. This program provides a first time structured activities where children learn about the world around them. 

Additional Requirements: The only requirement for this volunteer opportunity is that this person must enjoy children and be flexible for play driven education. No court ordered volunteering will be accepted for this opportunity.

I am looking for someone to manage our community service program. Specifically I looking for someone to help us set up innovative projects for our kids. We do weekly community service projects with 1 - 8 youth. This changes weekly. Additional Requirements: Creativity is the key for this position. Also, know what need exist within our community that a small group of kids can work on two hours at a time.

This position provides friendly and efficient customer service to Adoption Center patrons. The customer service assistant assists staff by answering patron questions in person and by phone, escorting visitors on tours to meet adoptable animals and monitoring the adoption areas. Additional Requirements: Customer service assistants need to be friendly and enjoy assisting customers in their selection of an animal. The assistant will work with the director initially.

Many of our cats come to us very frightened and stressed. We need caring individuals to help them adjust to shelter life by daily socialization and grooming. Additional Requirements: As with all volunteer opportunities an application will need to be filled out. Once this is done, you will come to the shelter for orientation and to be paired up with another seasoned volunteer. After that all that is required is kind, quiet words and gentle petting and grooming. The transition that you will witness will warm your heart. This position is an afternoon position.

BRAT (Badger Rescue Animal Transfer) is a group of people who transport animals to shelters and rescue groups throughout Wisconsin. Drivers needed would transport animals to the Wausau and Antigo areas. The animal is then transferred to another BRAT driver to take the animal to it's final destination. Additional Requirements: Volunteer must have a current Wisconsin drivers license. They must have a vehicle that will transport the animal comfortably. BRAT volunteers donate their time and gas for this important position.

The Y is looking for people who would like to spend an hour rocking and playing with infants. During our busy mornings the drop in childcare center is looking for additional hands to keep infants happy and safe. Additional Requirements: Volunteers must love children, be caring, safety conscious, and able to lift 20 pounds. All Y volunteers must complete a volunteer application. A background check is completed on all volunteers.

Kids In Need is looking for some volunteers to head up our fundraising events. This could be one time, or on an ongoing basis depending on the volunteers interest. Additional Requirements: I am looking for one or more people who have some creative ideas for fundraising events. I need them to take their event from start to finish with help from staff. You will work with the Program Director and have access to staff help.

YMCA Girls Night Out (GNO) program is looking for female individuals that would like to spend time and mentor girls in 6-8th grade. GNO meets every other Thursday and does many different activities, such as, miss manners, community service, arts and crafts, fitness (Zumba, power beat) at the Y to name a few! Additional Requirements: Mentors should have a desire to work with girls in this age group, be caring, motivating and a good role model. All Y volunteers must complete a volunteer application. A background check is done on all volunteers.

Organize and update a large selection of greeting cards available for sale at the Center to keep racks filled and neat. Rotate stock approximately three weeks to one month prior to upcoming seasonal events. Evaluate any card donations for condition and appropriateness. Monitor and keep stock organized. Let Activity & Volunteer Coordinator know when stock needs to be reordered. Additional Requirements: Must have good organizational skills and be aware of calendar events when card rotation would be needed. Stop in at the Center at least once per week to check the racks, more often during heavy card sales events such as Christmas or other holidays.

We're looking for individuals who enjoy spending time with other volunteers in the garden. Downtown Rhinelander has a few small planting areas that require regular upkeep. One of those is The Plaza at the corner of Rives Street and Brown Street. This is a community space to be enjoyed by all and is maintained solely by community volunteers. 

Additional Requirements: 1) Time commitment would be an hour or more at a time for just one time or on a regular basis such as weekly or monthly. 2) Bring your own tools. Some tools may be available.

CHAMPS (Community Helping Afterschool Mold Positive Students) is looking for highly motivated caring volunteers to help students in grades 4-8th with homework, tutoring, and to teach enrichment classes. Working with this age group is fun, challenging and rewarding. Volunteers may listen to students read, help them with writing or assist with homework and special projects. Additional Requirements: Volunteers for this program must be mature and interested in working with students one-on-one and in small groups and be at least high school age. All YMCA volunteers must complete a volunteer application. A background check will be done on all volunteers.

This is an afternoon position. Keeping a dog company by playing, grooming or just sitting with a dog while it is outside in the fenced in back yard makes a long boring day for a dog much more enjoyable. Walking dogs on one of two designated neighborhood routes allows dogs to leave the shelter environment and enjoy sights and sounds that enrich the dog's day. Additional Requirements: The only requirement is a dog walking class to walk dogs. The requirement to enrich a dog's life through companionship is a love of dogs.

This position assists with the promotion and execution of fundraiser events for the adoption center. Event volunteers help to spread the word about the OCHS Adoption Center programs, policies and ways we help the animals. Additional Requirements: Event volunteers need to be passionate about helping OCHS Adoption Center raise funds to keep the center open and to provide the materials needed to provide a comfortable, safe and enriched environment for our animals.

This is a really fun opportunity to work in our Trailside Nature shop. Help with inventory and sales when we have workshops and conferences here at Treehaven. Nature shop has very flexiable hours. Stop out to Treehaven and check it out. If the shop isn't open, our office manager can open it and show you around. We are a up and coming roller derby league in the Rhinelander area. We're looking for a dedicated bunch to learn about this fun and amazing sport in order to become referees (on and off skates) and non-skating officials. We LOVE our volunteers!!! Referees keep us honest during games, scrimmages, and help out at practices from time to time. 

Additional Requirements: We're looking for volunteers who are 18+. To become a referee you need to, of course, know enough about the sport to be able to make the calls. We will be holding on-going training sessions as needed about the rules and game-play of roller derby to get ourselves and our volunteers up to par.

Volunteers are needed to spend important time with individuals in your own community who are experiencing early signs of dementia; you'll be helping them exercise, stimulating memory function, and participating in social outings. You'll find this a rewarding experience for both the volunteer and the participant with dementia.

For decades, The Salvation Army has been among the first to arrive and the last to leave the scene of emergencies and disasters. We are there for the emergency responders, victims and volunteers of all major events in Wisconsin and around the world. NATH - Frederick Place is looking for individuals, agencies, organizations, businesses to partner with us to provide an evening meal for up to 17 residents and staff member. This meal would need to be provided at Frederick Place at 5:30 p.m. We ask that you stay and dine with us if possible. Volunteers in the hospital's surgery waiting area are a liaison between waiting families and surgical staff. Volunteers perform a variety of tasks to make the wait easier. They also interact and assist staff as needed. Complete training provided. Additional Requirements: Volunteers must meet hospital volunteer requirements.

Be the first friendly face patients and visitors see when they enter the medical facility. Patient Assistance volunteers greet visitors and provide assistance in navigating the facility. They also perform other duties that assist staff and patients. Complete training provided. Additional Requirements: Volunteers must meet hospital volunteer requirements.

Deliver a nutritious meal to a homebound person living in the city of Rhinelander. The Meals on Wheels program operated through the hospital offers meals to individuals with dietary restrictions. Each meal is prepared especially for the individual. Volunteers are often the only outside contact clients may have during a day. It is a valuable service. Additional Requirements: Volunteers must complete hospital volunteer requirements. One on One training provided. Need to have own transportation. Mileage is not reimbursed.

Volunteers helping in the hospital's cancer treatment center make a difference in the experience of patients and their families. Duties include interacting with chemotherapy patients, reassuring families, helping staff with a variety of duties, escorting patients to other areas of the facility. Additional Requirements: Volunteers must complete hospital volunteer requirements. Volunteers who are cancer survivors or have experienced cancer through a friend or family member may enjoy offering hope to people facing this health issue.

Volunteers provide a welcoming presence in the hospital's library. They perform some clerical tasks and answer questions from visitors. Additional Requirements: Volunteers need to meet hospital volunteer requirements.

"Crafty" volunteers gather weekly at the hospital to work on projects that are donated for sale in the hospital Gift Shop. This is an opportunity to meet new people, socialize and give of your time to help others. The craft group raised over $2,000 in 2011 that is used to help fund healthcare programs sponsored by Ministry Saint Mary's Hospital. Additional Requirements: Hospital volunteer requirements must be met with some modifications. Potential volunteer should contact coordinator for details.

Volunteers help donors and Community Blood Drive staff at weekly blood drives held in Rhinelander at Trig's Shopping Center. Additional drives are held quarterly at the hospital. The CBC is the only provider of blood units to Ministry Saint Mary's Hospital patients. Helping facilitate successful donations helps save lives. Additional Requirements: Volunteers need to meet hospital volunteer requirements and receive one:one training.

Clerical volunteers help staff complete routine tasks and overflow duties. Most often a clerical volunteer helps at regularly scheduled times in the same department offering the opportunity to become acquainted with staff and to become a valued team member. Tasks range from filing, folder assembly, photocopying, and other assistance as determined by the department being served. Additional Requirements: All Volunteers are required to have an overview orientation and health screening. Complete training is provided.

Several volunteers are needed to assist residents in wheel chairs to attend a brief communion service on Sunday mornings at 10:30. Each volunteer would take one Sunday a month to give residents a ride in their wheel chairs to the chapel, stay about 20 minutes, and return residents to their rooms. The residents are very appreciative and enjoy visiting with you on the way. 

Additional Requirements: Volunteers will need some orientation to safety and procedures in our facility and will be introduced to needs for this specific duty.

We need people to help our office, too! The ideal individual would be outgoing, a real people person! Help would consist of making calls to fill open shifts. Call in flower, newspapers and patient mail transport requests. You would enter data into computer software program. Running errands can be a big part of the service.

The Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management needs your office skills! Types of projects would include: - Update resource binders - Work with American Red Cross to ensure shelter information is current - Transfer .jpeg files from floppy disks to cds - Contact local municipalities to update current emergency contact information and resources. Advocate for and support evidence based programs, specifically at this time - Stepping On, in conjunction with the Aging & Disability Resource Center to provide significant outreach and recruitment across Green County.

The Hutchinson House Museum, located in South Park in Waupaca, WI, and a subsidiary of the Waupaca Historical Society, is in need of volunteer Museum Tour Guides / Docents. As a volunteer tour guide you will assist the museum curator and society's director in offering educational and informative tours of Waupaca's historic Hutchinson House.  Additional Requirements: Volunteers must be able to stand for a one hour tour with patrons, and be able to climb stairs.

The Holly History & Genealogy Center in Waupaca seeks volunteers to assist patrons and assist with various projects. Patrons to our facility generally seek history information or information about early settlers or ancestors who resided in the Waupaca area. Additional Requirements: Volunteers should be available for 1-3 hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday afternoon, or Saturday mornings. Our building is not handicap accessible, so we cannot accept volunteers in wheelchairs at this time. Volunteers may sit for many projects, so standing is not a requirement. Would you like to change the life of someone by helping them learn how to read, write and possibly even speak English? If so--we want you! Literacy Partners is looking for volunteer tutors to instruct adult students in Kewaunee County, WI. We have students in all areas of the county. Tutors and their students usually meet once per week.

Additional Requirements: Volunteer tutors must attend a tutor training course. Our courses are held twice per year, once in spring and once again in Fall. Tutors must also be 18 years old,have at least a high school education or G.E.D., and commit to at least 6 months tutoring to be eligible. We staff our food shelf with volunteers. Do you like to shop orders, fill grocery bags or stock shelves. If so, we may have a position for you. This volunteer position will be responsible for transporting our residents within our Marquardt campus to and from appointments. Weekdays Monday through Friday. Additional Requirements: Volunteer must have their own vehicle,valid Driver's License, proof of automobile insurance. A criminal background check will be conducted.

Chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, or arthritis can be frustrating and debilitating to those dealing with it everyday. That's why the Living Well Program was started by Stanford University. Living Well teaches techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain, and isolation. It helps people realize they are not alone, and they can continue to do the things they love.

Volunteer tutors are the foundation of ICAA Crossroads Literacy and the Learning Center. These are individuals who would like to make a difference in someone's life, and have the extra time to give to a learner. Tutors commit to at least an hour a week with their learners. After a tutor and a learner are matched, we support them with resources and ongoing guidance to aid in their success.

We have items that veterans in need require for their homes, but unfortunately our warehouse is to disorganize that they can't find the items they need. Please help us organize and unpack our donations so that veterans will be able to find what they need. Additional Requirements: No requirements

ESW is currently looking for volunteers to serve our camps during our weekend sessions as camp counselors. Counselors would be responsible for working directly with our campers, assisting with personal care needs (toileting, dressing, bathing, feeding) and adapting recreation activities. Weekend sessions run from 3:00pm Friday to 3:30pm Sunday. One weekend of service equals 50 hours of volunteer experience

Additional Requirements: No experience is required as training is provided at the start of the session.

Help is needed to ensure that older people get the nourishment they need to stay well. We need Home Delivered Meal drivers that use their own vehicles to deliver healthy noon meals to older people in their homes in Monroe and outlying areas. Staff works to set up volunteer schedules in advance based your availability and volunteers are given a route and packaged meals to distribute. Schedules are flexible.

Additional Requirements: Volunteers who wish to be Home Delivered Meal Drivers will have to complete training and orientation with our staff on procedures and policies that should be followed when delivering. They also must have a valid driver's license, good driving record, reliable transportation, proof of insurance, pass a background check and maintain confidentiality of clients.

Help is needed to pick up and deliver noon meals to seniors, home bound and disabled persons from your local senior center in the Meals on Wheels program. This opportunity to help others in need will only take 1 - 2 hours of your time. You will be assigned a route that has 4 - 6 clients. You may choose how often you want to delivery meals, from once month, once a week or as often as you choose. Additional Requirements: You must have a valid drivers license and a background check. Our program works with volunteers aged 55 and over, however we will be happy to refer you to a Meals on Wheels program near you.

The Women's Shelter is always in need of school supplies. The children at the shelter normally stay for about 30 days. We want them to be able to take their school supplies with them when they leave the Shelter. This means that every day new children are arriving at the shelter while others are leaving. We are in a constant need of school supplies. We are looking for backpacks for boys and girls as well as basic school supplies. We are in need of rulers, pens, pencils, erasers,etc.  We want each child to be able to attend school with the proper supplies. Even though school starts in September we need supplies all year long.  The school supplies should cover from toddler to high school.  We always need backpacks for all ages as well.

Heartland Hospice volunteers help to support and enhance the quality of life of those they visit. Sacred Grounds Coffee Sanctuary provides warm space, coffee, and more for people who are unsheltered/homeless. We are currently open Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Many survivors of sexual violence struggle with learning how to care for themselves. The Healing Center strives to help each of our clients learn to engage in self-care by providing them with techniques and skills to get them through various trauma reactions. Volunteers can help by putting together self-care kits for our clients to use. Each kit comprises of a small bag filled with a few different sensory items, such as fidgets, affirmations, and self-care items.

We ask that interested volunteers be able to provide the sensory items to put together, as we cannot always guarantee having any on hand for kit making.

This is a great opportunity for a group!

A healing rock is used to provide an inspirational message to a client who is on their healing journey but may need a little reminder one day. Take for example, Heidi, she is a 24 year old young professional in her first job out of college. She was sexually assaulted at a party in college and has flashbacks, re-occurring thoughts, and nightmares of the assault. Upon entering into services at The Healing Center Heidi has begun to work on techniques to cope through difficult days and one of those techniques is something called, grounding. Heidi keeps a rock in her desk drawer at work with the word: Courage. She pulls it out when she is having a flashback to the assault and describes the texture, color, feel, weight, and letters on the rock. The rock helps Heidi to remember that she is courageous and bring her back from the flashback.

Volunteers can help by creating healing rocks for our clients. Each rock will serve a different healing purpose for each client.

We ask that interested volunteers be able to provide the supplies needed to decorate healing rocks, as we cannot always guarantee having any on hand.

The Admitting Assistant - assists staff with moving animals from intake into the shelter. All animals begin their time at DCHS in Admitting. Thank you for your interest in helping us to solve hunger! We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities at our Milwaukee food bank. We welcome individuals, families, corporate and social groups. 

Volunteers participate in sorting, packaging, labeling, and cleaning projects. This could range from labeling canned goods to be shipped to food pantries, sorting meat products to provide meal programs with real protein, boxing fresh produce to send to homeless shelters, or packing bulk product into family friendly sized portions. Our staff will give you specific information about your task and assist you through your shift. Please note this volunteer activity takes place in a warehouse facility. For safety concerns, volunteers who are 10-13 years old must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the volunteer activity.

Surfaces, equipment and tools are sanitized after each volunteer shift. We may ask our volunteers to assist us with the process.

The NEW Zoo & Adventure Park is currently recruiting interns! 

This is a unique opportunity for students to gain practical experience in a zoological setting.

Internships can be taken for academic credit, based on guidelines from your education institution. All internships are non-paid and duration varies.  Anyone over the age of 18 can participate in an internship, provided you have the right qualifications and dedication!  Preference is given to applicants looking to earn course credit when Internship opportunities are limited.

The NEW Zoo is looking for volunteers who are interested in supervising the Giraffe Feeding Experience! 

The Feeding Experience is a daily opportunity for volunteers to be involved in, to support the NEW Zoo. You set your own schedule after training by signing up for open shifts whenever you would like to supervise a feeding sessions. Sessions are typically 2. 5 hours long, with some variation seasonally. 

It’s a great opportunity for those who enjoy working with people – as we’ll teach you how to interact with our visitors and help them make amazing connections with our lovable giraffes, Nigel, Eddie, and Zuri!  Of course, you’ll also get to build some pretty special relationships with the giraffes themselves. Scheduling is flexible.

We're seeking an adult volunteer to come to the McFarland Youth Center (MYC) about once per week to run a club or program of their choosing. We love it when adults bring in a hobby, interest or passion of theirs and turn it into something that adds value to the lives of the youth we serve. Ideally, the activity would take place for about a half-hour sometime between 4 and 5 PM. This opportunity is flexible and can be terminated at any time by the adult volunteer.

The NEW Zoo needs YOU!

Volunteer opportunities available will depend on the season and weather, but the possibilities are nearly endless!* We require no minimum hour commitments from our volunteers. You can choose your own schedule or choose to assist us with a variety of date-specific events, such as our yearly fundraisers and ongoing educational programs.

Some of the opportunities you have as a volunteer include:

> Helping with the zoo’s special events, such as Zoo Boo, Holiday Fest, and more.
> Assisting with special projects around the zoo, including cleaning, maintenance, art projects, etc.
> Assisting with education programs, such as Summer Zoo Camp and Zoo Snooze overnights.
> Helping with clerical tasks and record keeping.
> Helping in the Mayan Restaurant and Visitor Center.
> Driving the train or running the carousel.
> Supervising the Giraffe Stand.
> Many other opportunities!

*Please note that the majority of NEW Zoo volunteers ARE NOT able to work directly with zoo animals, for safety and other reasons. We have many opportunities that are not directly related to animal care. Individuals who are more interested in working directly with zoo animals should consider an Internship instead.

Volunteer Guardians Needed!

A legal guardian is a decision maker and an advocate for those who are incompetent due to aging, a developmental disability, chronic mental illness or alcohol and drug abuse (i.e. ward). Guardians ensure that the individual’s rights to proper housing, nutrition, and medical care are met. A guardian is expected to visit their ward at least once a month and complete an annual report. A legal guardian does not financially support the ward, take care of the ward on a day to day basis, nor personally provide a place for the ward to live. Time commitment is based on the needs of the ward.

Volunteers receive training and support from the Brown County Adult Protective Services Unit. A stipend of $15.00 per ward-per month, mileage, and reimbursement for expenses such as copying legal paperwork, postage is available upon request.

Volunteer Drivers Needed!

Assist with transporting children and families safely to and from authorized visits and appointments. Drivers are reimbursed for their mileage. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

Orientation is provided. Mileage reimbursement is available.
