On Saturday, April 25, the YMCA will be holding their annual Health Kids Day.   For the event, UWDC will be providing a Family Fun Hub and will offer rock painting, coloring, playing with blocks, face painting, beading and other arts and craft activities that are FREEE to families.  

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, we would love to have volunteer assistance with our annual Golden Heart Volunteer Award Reception at Stone Harbor Resort and Conference Center in Sturgeon Bay.

Volunteers can visit on their own schedule as little as two hours a month, making it a manageable yet impactful way for individuals to share their compassion and support for others.

Each year, the National Association of Letter Carriers hosts Stamp Out Hunger—the largest single-day food drive in the country. Residents place non-perishable food next to their mailboxes and mail carriers collect the donations along their routes. Sheboygan County Food Bank works with volunteers to pick up, unload, and weigh donations from Sheboygan. The food collected helps supply our Sheboygan Cares Food Pantry and partner organizations during the summer months.

Warehouse Volunteer: Meet at the SCFB Warehouse to help unload and weigh food donations as they come in. Must be 10 years old to volunteer in the warehouse. Any child must be accompanied by an adult.

Start out at the Sheboygan Post Office - 522 N 9th St, Sheboygan, WI 53081. Please meet at the Post Office 10 min before your shift begins to get your instructions.

·      Resident Transportation: Assist residents in wheelchairs or walkers from their rooms to the game room. (helpful but not required)

Time Commitment

Shifts are currently available on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.

The shift begins at 1:30pm and ends at approximately 3:15pm. 

All volunteers are required to complete a background check and TB test. 

Position Overview

Bethany has several church services held throughout the week at the Bethany Chapel. Volunteers are needed to help bring residents to and from church services. 

Ideal Candidate

·      A compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor.

·      Reliability and consistency in attendance.

·      Candidates must be independent, physically able to push wheelchairs.

Primary Responsibilities

·      Resident Transportation: Assist residents in wheelchairs or walkers from their rooms to the chapel.

·      Active Participation: Help create a welcoming environment by greeting residents and socializing.

·      Collaboration: Work with Bethany staff to identify residents interested in attending services.

Time Commitment

Shifts are currently available on Wednesday and Sunday mornings.  

The shift begins at 10:00 am and ends at approximately 12:00 pm.

Volunteers will assist with JA BizTown, which combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a fully interactive, simulated town. 4th-6th grade students run the economy and become producers and consumers for the day. They leave understanding the relationship between what they learn in school and their participation in a local economy. Volunteers will help a small group of students write checks and make business deposits, facilitate meetings, understand their jobs, provide encouragement, and have a great day.

Volunteer Training Phase 1:

-Complete prior to the simulation day.

The Appleton Area School District is looking for adult volunteers to supervise AP exams! Our students have worked hard to get to exam day to try to earn college credit with a passing score. Your role will be to supervise the room and pass out necessary materials. Our students test digitally on Chromebooks, and the room is a quiet space for up to 4 hours of testing. There is no technology troubleshooting for volunteers, as we have I.T. staff in the room. Volunteers provide scratch paper, tissues or water as needed, and monitor hallways for bathroom trips.

Please wear comfortable shoes, as we try to eliminate noise in the room. Your help is essential for the district to be able to provide the opportunity for our students!

Help Hope House collect donated school supplies this August at Irish Fest! Every year Irish Fest generously hosts a school supply drive for us on their opening evening, we're looking for small teams to help us accept and organize school supplies! All volunteers get free Irish Fest entry before/after their shift.

Have your team join Hope House of Milwaukee to spruce up the St. Catherine's Residence and the surrounding neighborhood! This opportunity is focused on the St. Catherine's Residence on Milwaukee's east side. The St. Catherine of Hope Residence serves women and families with a mix of naturally occurring affordable housing and subsidized units for those who have previously experienced homelessness. Home to more than two hundred residents, St. Catherine’s is not only a safe and sable housing option but an enduring community of women.

Tasks will include light painting and cleaning/repair projects inside St. Catherine's and a neighborhood clean-up in the blocks surrounding. Help us be great neighbors while learning more about Hope House's work to end homelessness and ensure everyone has access to stable, healthy housing. Tours of St. Catherine's will be offered. Please dress for the weather!

Have your team join Hope House of Milwaukee's neighborhood clean-up! This opportunity is focused on the Walkers Point neighborhood surrounding Hope House. Help us be great neighbors while learning more about Hope House's work to end homelessness and ensure everyone has access to stable, healthy housing. Tours of Hope House will be offered. We are looking for teams from 5-40 people during the week of April 20-24, between the hours of 8am-5pm.

Help weed, clean, and plant in Hope House's backyard - After being closed to clients due to a program partners' space needs, we are reopening Hope House's backyard to make a peaceful, restorative space for families staying at Hope House's shelter. Looking for groups who want to get their hands dirty and are open to gardeners who want to lend their vision for a welcoming space!

We are able to work with your group's schedule during a weekday between May 4th - June 5th, 3-5 hours. Group sizes 5-20 welcome. Volunteers will help transform a small space with major needs. Tasks include weeding, repairing garden beds, potentially spot painting, laying mulch and soil and planting. We anticipate having donated plants and materials but welcome gardeners with their own vision and plants to spare as well!

Volunteers will assist with organizing donations that have come to their food pantry, clothes closet, and hygiene closet.

Edison Elementary has a project to help improve students' coat hook areas. The wooden areas around student coat hooks have begun to splinter and coats, snow pants, and other belongings are beginning to catch. Volunteers with assist with putting contact paper over the coat hook areas in several of the school hallways. The project will make a big difference in keeping student belonings from being damaged.

Riveredge is seeking a volunteer (or small group) dedicated to maintaining the front landscaping at the Visitor Center (4458 County Rd Y Saukville Wi 53080).  The volunteer(s) will primarily be in charge of weeding, but direct instructions will be provided from Riveredge conservation staff.

This opportunity would likely be 1-2 weeks per month and last for 1-2 hours at a time, depending on number of volunteers.  Please respond if you or your group would be interested in getting more information about how to participate in this opportunity. Riveredge is seeking a volunteer (or small group) dedicated to maintaining the front landscaping at the Visitor Center (4458 County Rd Y Saukville Wi 53080). 

The volunteer(s) will primarily be in charge of weeding, but direct instructions will be provided from Riveredge conservation staff. This opportunity would likely be 1-2 weeks per month and last for 1-2 hours at a time, depending on number of volunteers.

Pups on the Runway is an event happening April 23rd to raise funds to support Phoenix the facility dog for Day by Day Shelter. All funds will be used for his vet care, vaccinations, food, and supplies.

We are looking for a team of about six people to come together to create raffle baskets from donated items. Part of the job could including purchasing baskets, cellophane, bows, and items to supplement what has been given so they will generate more excitement. All purchases can be reimbursed if you’d like, though we know that some generous people will want to donate.  We are targeting 4/19/2026 to gather at Becket’s for the wrap party.

We’re planning our 3rd Annual Battle of the Big Bands at Becket’s September 25th and are looking for volunteers to join our planning committee. Funds raised through this event support programs focused on basic needs, community gardening, and non-violence initiatives in our area.

Volunteers can help with sponsorship outreach, organize our silent auction, and support event planning details. Most meetings are held via Zoom, and time commitments are flexible. Planning will take place leading up to the fall event, with virtual meetings and optional tasks between meetings.

No prior event planning experience is needed—just a willingness to help.

If you're a hairstylist and you'd like to be able to use your cutting and styling hair talents to support in-home hospice patients, we'd love to share more about this opportunity! We have patients who request haircuts, and sometimes, the filing and painting of nails; especially when it's difficult for them to leave their home. Your services would be helping to restore dignity and a sense of normalcy during a period of profound transition in their lives.

A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer is a trained community member appointed by a judge to advocate for the best interests of abused or neglected children in the child welfare system. They gather information, monitor the child's situation, and report directly to the court, providing a consistent, supportive presence for the child.

Information: CASA volunteers thoroughly review records and talk with the child, parents, family members, teachers, doctors, and others involved in the child's life.

Advocacy: They speak for the child’s best interests in court, ensuring their voice is heard, and advocate for their needs regarding safety, education, and health.

Court Reports: CASAs submit written reports to the judge before hearings, offering recommendations regarding the child’s placement, services, and permanent, safe home.

Support & Stability: Unlike social workers who may manage many cases, CASA volunteers usually manage one case at a time, providing a consistent, stable, and trusted adult figure in a child’s often chaotic life.

CASA volunteers work alongside attorneys, social workers, and other professionals. They are required to complete training. While they do not need to be lawyers or social workers, they must be able to work with children and families, maintain confidentiality, and be comfortable in a courtroom setting.

We have a client who comes Tuesdays from 4:30-5 every Tuesday in our riding program who communicates via ASL. We would love to have a volunteer who can help us communicate with her during her lesson.

The FIERCE Foundation hosts the annual Children’s Business Fair – Onalaska, held each April during Financial Literacy Month. The 2026 event will take place Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM at MDU – Misty’s Dance Unlimited Community Center, 23 12th Ave S STE 103, Onalaska, WI 54650.

The Children’s Business Fair is a one-day marketplace where youth entrepreneurs launch and run real businesses. Young participants create a product or service, build a brand, and sell directly to customers while gaining hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, creativity, and communication.

Volunteers help bring the event to life by supporting youth vendors, welcoming families, assisting with setup and logistics, and serving as judges. Your time helps encourage and inspire the next generation of innovators and leaders.

The 34th Annual Letter Carriers' Food Drive is Saturday, May 9, 2026. Great Rivers United Way is recruiting collection site volunteers to unload, weigh, sort, and re-load donations into trucks for delivery to our food program partners. This work happens at the Post Office in Downtown La Crosse; however, there can be a situation where we would request a volunteer to meet a Letter Carrier in a location and load donations into their vehicle for transportation back to the Post Office. 

We are also currently working out whether or not we will have a southside drop off location for Letter Carriers. If this is the case, there would be further communication on where to report to. As of right now, we are operating all of this out of the Post Office on 425 State Street, La Crosse WI.

You can volunteer all day (from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) or for one of three shifts: mid morning – 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; afternoon – 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.; or early evening – 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Lunch will be provided from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

The 34th Annual Letter Carriers' Food Drive is this Saturday, May 9, 2026. Great Rivers United Way is helping out by recruiting driving teams, consisting of a driver and at least one passenger each, who will use a personal vehicle to collect donations on an assigned route(s) ahead of local Letter Carriers in La Crosse and Onalaska.

Drivers and their passenger(s) will report to the La Crosse Post Office, (unless assigned to an Onalaska route) where they will receive materials and a route. Driving teams will follow mail routes, making two or more sweeps of that route to ensure as many donations as possible are picked up by volunteers, rather than Letter Carriers, who are also delivering mail this day. We estimate that driving teams will be done by 3:00 p.m. at the latest. This event is rain or shine.

This is a family-friendly volunteer opportunity – the more helping hands, the better!

Summer Camp Buddies work within the direction of a Summer Camp Educator to assist in camp activities and supervise campers during our week-long summer camps. Summer Campers are rising 1st to 8th graders.

Volunteer opportunities are available Monday through Friday, June 8 - August 28. Opportunities are available for the following times:

-Spend an entire camp with us! Monday-Friday, 9:30am-4pm
-Spend the mornings or afternoons with us. Come in the morning or afternoon, before or after camp lunches. Shift would be about 3-4 hours long depending on timing.
-Looking for more flexibility? Join us once a week (or more) for recess duty! Come and play with the campers 11:30am-1:30pm.

DUTIES

Under the direction of our Education Team Members, Summer Camp Buddies will:

-Assist Campers with projects
-Ensure that Campers stick together while walking through the building
-Play with Campers at recess

Summer Camp Buddies will work directly with our Campers, so a desire to work with or interact with children is preferred. Please note we do ask that our younger Volunteers work with our younger Campers, i.e., if you have just finished your freshman year of high school, we would ask you to sign up for the 1st grade camp if it is still available.

Campers enter Discovery World through the Pavilion space, located on the technology side of our building, right off the Power On exhibit. The Pavilion has large, floor to ceiling windows on multiple sides, with additional artificial lighting on the ceiling. Noise levels will vary based on the number of people in the space.

Camps will take place in one of ten different lab spaces throughout Discovery World. Lab spaces vary in size, décor, windows, and location. Depending on the lab there could be no natural light or large windows. Most lab spaces are on the second floor of the technology building, with one on the lower mezzanine of the same, and two on the second floor of the Aquatarium.

This position includes periods of standing/walking but may be seated for portions of the shift. May include bending and twisting as needed for interaction and tidying.

Online background check for those 18+ is required. Liability and Confidentiality Waiver signature required.

TIMES NEEDED

Camps run 9:30am – 4pm, Monday-Thursday, and 9:30am – 3:30pm on Friday.

MINUMUM AGE

14- You must have completed your freshman year of high school to be eligible.

The Valley VNA has a small bus equipped to safely transport our residents for off‑site outings. Many of our residents enjoy opportunities to get out into the community—such as visiting a grocery store, library, park, or even taking a trip to downtown Neenah. These excursions are always planned in advance. As a volunteer bus driver, you would be covered under our insurance policy for any accidents that may occur during one of these short trips.

Are you bilingual in Hmong and English (written fluency is not required) and enjoy talking with people and supporting our community? Join us as a Hmong-English Survey Interpretation Volunteer to support the Community Voice efforts of Second Harvest Foodbank through the administration of surveys to pantry guests whose primary language is Hmong.

Second Harvest is committed to gathering feedback from our neighbors experiencing food insecurity by conducting surveys, facilitating focus groups, and other community engagement activities, and using this feedback to drive our work.
