The museum currently has over sixteen thousand artifacts accessioned in its collection, ranging from small items like personal awards and ribbons on through the vehicles and a naval landing craft (Higgins Boat). The museum also receives many artifact donations from veterans and their families on a regular basis. The main goal of the museum at this point is to log the donation into our books and then catalog the donated artifacts into our computer database (a program called Past Perfect) as they come in, and catch up on a backlog of artifacts currently in the collection that are not entered in the database. For this job a person can come in any day of the week, once they have been trained in the entry system. As with our docents and cashiers, there is an expectation to put in a minimum of eight hours per month. Knowledge of military items like uniforms, weapons and hardware items is a definite plus in this job, as one has to be able enter in the dtatbase what the item is and then identify what grouping in Past Perfect it will fit under. Volunteer: Make Friendly Phone Calls to Seniors in your Community (Waukesha County)We are putting out a call for volunteers to join the Friendly Phone Call program! This program pairs an Eras client with a volunteer to have regular conversations by phone. The Friendly Phone Call program is a longer-term commitment (12+ weeks) and seeks to decrease social isolation and reduce the feelings of loneliness in our clients. How does it work? The volunteer will complete an application, be screened, and matched with a client(s). The volunteer calls the client to introduce themselves and, along with the client, decides when and how often they should connect (usually between 2-4 times a month, with calls typically lasting 20 minutes or less- but may be longer if time permits). After each call, the volunteer lets Eras know whether they were able to connect with the client (through a quick email, phone call, or online survey). If a client asks for a ride, assistance, resources, or has questions or concerns, volunteers should refer them to our main line. Eras staff will follow up on any additional needs that the client has. Repeat! To sign up to volunteer for this or other opportunities, please visit our website: https://eras.org/volunteer/become-a-volunteer/ or call us at 414-488-6931 and we can assist you over the phone. Volunteer: Share your America - Host an exchange student!international Experience (iE), with US Department of State support, is planning to welcome exchange students to the US for the 2020-21 school year. We continue to monitor recommendations from the CDC, WHO and Department of State, and will adjust our program as necessary, always acting with student and host family health in mind. Reaching out for more info or even registering on our website does NOT obligate you to host if your family should reconsider later this summer. So now that all of my disclaimers are out of the way... let's jump in to what we're looking for! A volunteer host family fills the place of a parent during a student's exchange year/semester abroad. We're looking for families/adults/empty nesters/single adults/parents with toddlers/parents with teens (there are LOTS of types of families!) who will provide a safe & caring home environment, basic room & board (3 meals/day and a permanent bed - can share a room with a host sibling of the same gender within 3 years of age), and reasonable transportation (to & from team practices, rides to the mall, pick-ups from a friend's house, etc). We have a vetting process for host families to ensure the safety of all - including an online application (www.ie-usa.org), a criminal background check (for any family member 18+ living at home full time) and in-home interview. We also call references as provided in the application. Students go through a similar vetting process, and also need teacher's recommendations and a English proficiency exam. iE requires a minimum English language score in order to gain admittance into the program. Students come with a willingness and openness to learn - about a new culture, a new high school, a new family, a new city/state - and also to share about their country and way of life. Host families can gain a relationship that can truly last a lifetime. We have several Local Coordinators in your area who would love to help you with this experience! Reach out today for more information or just to have a conversation about what hosting could look like for your family. Call/text Regional Director Judy at 920-241-3878 or email j.hintz@international-experience.net. If hosting isn't right for you but you know someone who would make a PERFECT host family, make a referral on our website and earn $200! https://www.ie-usa.org/make-a-referral/host-family-referral-200/ Agency: international Experience (iE) international Experience (iE), with US Department of State support, is planning to welcome exchange students to the US for the 2020-21 school year. Volunteer: Volunteer Host Families Needed!International Experience (iE) is in need of volunteer host families for exchange students arriving this fall. Now, I know what you’re probably thinking… how on earth could our family decide to host an overseas student at a time like this?! Well, iE will not bring students into an unsafe situation. We always follow the guidelines of the Department of State, so if they feel it is unsafe then the students won't come. These students are also not set to arrive until August, and it would be nice if our lives looked different then than they do now. Student exchanges became popular after World War II, and are intended to increase the participants' understanding and tolerance of other cultures, as well as improving their language skills and broadening their social horizons. Student exchanges also increased further after the end of the Cold War. It is safe to say that the global COVID-19 pandemic is another experience showing we are all people, no matter what country or location we call home. I'm happy to chat, so please ask me any questions you'd like. Contact me via phone/text at 920-241-3878 or email j.hintz@international-experience.net.

Kitchen Meal Server:
Volunteers serve a morning breakfast and a healthy lunch to guests at The Beacon every day. Kitchen Meal Servers help make sure it all runs smoothly by being a friendly, welcoming presence in the kitchen; making coffee; doing light food prep; serving food; and doing the dishes.
8:00AM-10:30AM or 11:15AM-2:00PM
Laundry:
Volunteers wash, dry and lightly fold clothes for our guests so that they can be ready for their jobs, feel prepared for interviews, and feel fresher as they navigate their day.
8:15AM-12:00PM or 12:00PM-3:30PM
Showers:
Volunteers provide an opportunity for our guests who are experiencing homelessness to get clean and feel good again. We have five private showers that can be used for 30 minutes per individual. Shower volunteers check guests in for access to a private shower that includes use of necessary toiletries.
8:15AM-11:00AM or 1:00PM-3:30PM

Volunteer: On-Call Volunteer AdvocateReach Counseling provides crisis intervention and emotional support 24/7 to survivors of sexual assault and their friends/family with the help of Volunteer Victim Advocates. Volunteer Advocates are on call during shifts of their choosing and can be over nights, on weekends, and holidays when the Reach office is closed. We are additionally seeking volunteers to help respond to crisis calls during daytime hours between 7am-5pm. Volunteer Advocates are trained to provide emotional support, crisis intervention, information and resources to survivors of sexual abuse and assault in Winnebago, Outagamie, and Calumet Counties. Advocates will work with nurses and law enforcement to provide wrap-around, compassionate care while a survivor receives a forensic exam and/or gives a statement to the police. Advocates respond to Aurora Medical Center and Mercy in Oshkosh, ThedaCare and St. Elizabeth's in Appleton, with the option to sign up for Calumet County Hospital in Chilton coverage as well. Volunteers choose which regions (Appleton, Oshkosh, Chilton) they would like to cover when on call. Advocates must have a driver's license, car insurance and vehicle while on call. Advocates take calls through their own phones and never have to be at the Reach office while on call. Advocates must be aware they will hear details of sexual abuse and assault and should know how hearing these stories will impact them. Advocates are in charge of how many and which shifts they take and the schedule is very flexible. Advocates, whether staff or volunteer, are not allowed to provide transportation for clients. Volunteer: 2,500 Items Needed! 2025 St. Joseph Academy Angel Shop DriveDo you sometimes receive little odds and ends that you don't want, can't use and usually throw into a closet to collect dust? Did you purchase something on clearance, but now it's sitting in a closet collecting dust? Are you or do you know a business who would be willing to donate their final clearance items to us? Or do you just have some new or gently used items you're clearing out of the house? Please consider donating those new or gently used items to us. In December 2025 we will hold our 5th Annual Angel Shop where Early Childhood & K4-8th students can shop for family members at $1-$5 a gift for that special someone in their lives. This allows them to be part of the process and spirit of giving. Students learn financial literacy skills, learn to independently shop, and they gain a true sense of pride and accomplishment from participating. We will be collecting items year round for children, teens, adult, and older adults (even Pets!). So please start putting those bags together with that candle you didn't want or hand soap you can't use or the extra screwdriver set you have lying around, that too small wallet, ties, men's cologne, women's perfume, the adult coloring book that was supposed to be calming, but just isn't, soccer and sports items, baseball hats, etc. Additionally, we are also accepting donations of wrapping paper, gift bags, tissue paper, scotch tape, gift tags and bows and ribbons. Donations are being accepted until Friday, December 5. Help us to make this an amazing experience for our kids. Please contact Kim Schubring, Director of Resource Development for drop-off instructions or for more information at (414) 645-5337 ext. 247 or email kschubring@sjamilwaukee.org. Want to volunteer to help kids shop during our Angel Shop? Contact Kim in November - December for more details.
