Agency: Milwaukee Habitat For Humanity From vintage tableware to Christmas ornaments, antique wall maps to brand-new blenders, day after day Habitat ReStores receive hundreds of unique donations. We’re looking for volunteers who can help us research, price, repair, and process each one to help raise funds for Habitat for Humanity! Habitat ReStores are non-profit home improvement stores and donation centers whose proceeds are used to build safe, affordable homes in our community. We sell new and gently used furniture, building materials, appliances, and home accessories to the public at 50%-75% below retail. ReStore is driven by volunteer power: every day, our volunteers turn every donated couch, cushion, and cabinet into an opportunity for homes and hope. Habitat’s ReStore offers an enjoyable, accommodating, and impactful volunteer experience at each of our three Milwaukee-area locations: Wauwatosa, Greenfield, and Franklin.

Volunteer: Mentor Milwaukee teens toward financial capability with SecureFuturesMONEY COACH PROGRAM The years leading up to high school graduation are critical to the formation of strong money management habits. Personal attention and guidance are the most effective ways to empower teens for a stable and successful financial future. Money Coach, specifically designed for teens from under-resourced communities, is our one-of-a-kind, semester-long financial mentoring program. Small groups of teens are matched with teams of volunteer coaches who guide them through in-depth financial literacy curriculum and provide one-on-one support as they put concepts into practice.
VOLUNTEER ROLES SecureFutures' Money Coach program is a hands-on financial coaching program delivered to a group of high school students by volunteer coaches. The program aims to provide a deeper understanding of financial concepts and hands-on goal-setting through a lesson plan that focuses on direct volunteer-to-student interaction. The primary role of all SecureFutures volunteers is to engage students in financial education lessons by asking questions, leading discussions, and sharing professional and life experience. There are two distinct volunteer roles in the Money Coach program. Training: All volunteers complete a 3 hour, in-person training. The training covers cultural humility, trauma-informed care, and student engagement techniques, as well as all of the logistics and curriculum for the program.

Volunteer: One Big Tent CompanionsWhat does a Companion do? Listen actively as you walk with our neighbors in crisis Discern which community resource and partners can help Triage the situation by listening to their story and determining gaps in neighbors' stability Decide a pathway forward with our neighbor and how they can make connections to community resources and move toward sustainability and stability. How does one learn how to be a Companion? We have our new volunteers begin by attending a shift or two and simply observing. Then, we connect new volunteers with an established companion whom they will shadow for several shifts until the new volunteer feels ready to take the lead with neighbors. We work collaboratively, so no companion ever flies completely solo. Agency: One Big Tent What does a Companion do?
