Interested in learning more about the plants or volunteering in the native gardens at Myrick Park Center? Volunteers are welcome to assist in planting, maintenance, planning, research, photography, observation, and development of educational materials.
Bluff Country Master Gardeners with the assistance of WisCorps, Wild Ones, friends of Myrick, and the city of La Crosse create and maintain native landscaping on the grounds around Myrick Park Center. Gardens consist of a rain garden, pollinator garden, areas extending from the patio on the north, a native tall grass area to the west of the building, and a retention basin between the parking lot and the marsh.
Goals of the project include:
• Provide a habitat for pollinators and wildlife with many diverse plants native to the area.
• Provide a beautiful setting for the enjoyment of all visitors to Myrick Park and the La Crosse River Marsh.
• Provide an educational setting with resources to teach the value of native plants and Pollinators
• Demonstrate the use of native plants in an urban setting.
• Use plants to absorb and filter water.
