The Parenting Place hosts an annual Children's Festival in Myrick Park. The festival offers opportunities for "real play" (open-ended, child-directed, natural materials) for children ages 0-8 and their parents/caregivers. We have a mud kitchen, a big dirt pile with trucks, a water play (baby doll baths, car & trike wash), a farmyard (dig in the dirt for potatoes, collect eggs), a dinosaur playscape, an art factory (every material imaginable - create what you wish!), matchbox cars and wooden ramps to configure, a village (veterinarian's office, flower shop, pizza parlor), and much more. We are in need of volunteers to assist with supporting each activity area: everything is set up - your job is to tidy the play area after children move on and to make sure that adults and children are safe - the children come with their own fully-installed play skills and don't need to be directed! Ability to stand or sit on uneven lawns and in full sun/wind/drizzle is required (bring your own lawn chair). Please contact us by Monday, August 14th so that we can plan for the necessary staffing of all stations.
Criminal background check is required of all volunteers.
