The STAR Association offers Can't Stop Me Parkinson's Programs for individuals with Parkinson's Disease. STAR has a need for 1:1 mentors for participants who need extra assistance during programs. Volunteers will assist with set up and clean up of the program. Volunteers will assist with running stations and help participants 1:1 when necessary. No prior experience with adaptive physical activity is required. We will train you.
Programs run at the STAR Center, Monday-Thursday from 11:00-2:30 pm. PD Exercise is on Tuesdays/Thursdays and Rock Steady Boxing is on Mondays and Wednesdays. This is an excellent experience for students or community members interested in Adaptive Physical Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Special Education, and Sports Science. University students are not expected to volunteer during midterms and finals- we are able to work with your schedule.
Individuals must reach out to the STAR Center at info@starcenterlacrosse.org or 608-797-6295 to begin volunteering.
Volunteers must SIGN UP on SIGNUP Genius (found on website) and must complete Orientation Training and Quiz before volunteering.
