Volunteer: LEEPS Volunteer Opportunity - Green County

Volunteers are needed to spend important time with individuals in your own community who are experiencing early signs of dementia; you'll be helping them exercise, stimulating memory function, and participating in social outings. You'll find this a rewarding experience for both the volunteer and the participant with dementia.

Additional Requirements: No special skills are required; complete training is provided. Volunteers must age 18 or older and have reliable transportation.

Chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, or arthritis can be frustrating and debilitating to those dealing with it everyday. That's why the Living Well Program was started by Stanford University. Living Well teaches techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain, and isolation. It helps people realize they are not alone, and they can continue to do the things they love.

Additional Requirements:

* Experience or comfortable leading small groups 8-12

* Patient and organized

* Enjoys helping others solve problems

* Supportive and caring personality

Help is needed to ensure that older people get the nourishment they need to stay well. We need Home Delivered Meal drivers that use their own vehicles to deliver healthy noon meals to older people in their homes in Monroe and outlying areas. Staff works to set up volunteer schedules in advance based your availability and volunteers are given a route and packaged meals to distribute. Schedules are flexible.

Additional Requirements: Volunteers who wish to be Home Delivered Meal Drivers will have to complete training and orientation with our staff on procedures and policies that should be followed when delivering. They also must have a valid driver's license, good driving record, reliable transportation, proof of insurance, pass a background check and maintain confidentiality of clients.
