At Heartland Hospice, we are looking for donations of coloring books, coloring materials, large print word search books, large print crossword puzzles, puzzles, decks of cards, etc. These are good tools for our hospice patients and their volunteers to use during visits, as well as visiting family members.

Looking to provide relief and loving presence at the bedside during our patient's final hours? Vigil volunteers are special volunteers that help provide a loving presence at the bedside of hospice patients as they are approaching end-of-life. Vigil volunteers are requested when no family or loved ones are available or when family needs a break from the bedside. Special training is offered for this type of volunteering. Will also do in person training with a current vigil volunteer. Our Vet-to-Vet volunteer program is dedicated to providing care to our veteran patients and families that are living in this community. Volunteers help improve the quality of our patients lives through social interaction and companionship. Heartland Hospice is in need of volunteers with military background to join our team of caring professionals. Volunteers are matched up with a veteran that is currently receiving hospice services that would like friendly visits and additional companionship from another veteran. Fellow veterans may be able to relate to the life experiences of the hospice patient and share stories to help enrich the patient's life during those final months. In addition to social visits, veteran volunteers can assist with pinning ceremonies, Veteran's Day events and Dream Flights. Is your dog therapy certified, and you would like to brighten people's lives? Volunteers and their therapy certified dogs are needed to visit patients on Heartland Hospice Services. Volunteers and their therapy dogs provide companionship and social interaction for patients that enjoy animals and would like visitors. Alls dogs must be current on vaccines and certified as a pet therapy dog. Please contact Heartland Hospice if you have questions about the certification process. We are looking for individuals to sew patriotic themed quilts/lap blankets, memory bears and/or pillows upon request and fidget muffs or squares. Memory bears and pillow are made from sentimental clothing that belonged to the loved ones on our hospice services. We have memory bear patterns available.  Fidget muffs or squares are a muff or square that has various items on them that dementia patients can "fidget" with like buttons, string, beads and other items. Do you like clerical work in an office setting? Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity that can help you gain experience and skills to put on your resume? Administrative/office volunteers contribute to the Heartland Hospice mission by providing needed office support. Some of the office tasks include mailings, assembling folders, in-service packets, filing, and making copies. Administrative volunteers work at our Heartland Hospice office in Stevens Point. Do you enjoy socializing, playing card games, going for walks, crafting, and more? Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity? Our volunteers spend time socializing and providing companionship with individuals receiving Heartland Hospice Services. Activities include reading to patients, playing cards, going on walks, providing caregiver relief, watching game shows, and listening to their stories.
