Shawano County Literacy Council

The Shawano County Literacy Council was founded in January of 1993 to promote literacy in Shawano County. The Literacy council provides confidential and free tutoring to non-reading adults as well as those individuals with limited reading abilities, regardless of race, religion, sex or economic circumstances. The Shawano County Literacy Council was founded in January of 1993 to promote literacy in Shawano County. Volunteer tutors are trained at Literacy Green Bay and certified to tutor individuals matched to their needs.

Adult students are evaluated for reading and speaking skills. Lessons are then scheduled based on the availability of the tutor and the student. Meetings are arranged in public areas and any personal information gaind by the Literacy Council is kept strictly confidential.
