Who We Are

River Bend Nature Center exists to provide environmental education and outdoor recreation to the children, families and adults of Racine and Southeastern Wisconsin. River Bend Nature Center has existed since the 1950's. It was purchased by the County of Racine in 2012 and is now run by a private non-profit corporation with no public financial support. The Center works closely with the school district to fill the needs of the science curriculum in grades K-8.

What We Do

River Bend Nature Center offers environmental education opportunities through school field trip programs which are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards, Summer Nature Camps, and environmental science lectures and programs. The Center promotes outdoor recreation through canoe, kayak, cross country ski and snowshoe rentals; and classes in archery, skiing, and canoe paddling. Our programs are intended to increase a science based knowledge of the natural environment and to instill a love of nature.
