Who We Are
Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization that reinforces the value of an education by teaching young people the pillars of entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy. We send volunteers into classrooms to engage young people in interactive programs and hands-on activities. JA volunteers inspire young people within the community to own their economic success in the global marketplace. We also have day events where students explore potential careers, learn how to prepare for a job, how to keep a job, and job-hunting tools for earning a job.
What We Do
Programs span grades K-12, and focus on seven key content areas: business, citizenship, economics, entrepreneurship, ethics/character, financial literacy, and career developement. JA programs are taught by volunteers in inner cities, suburbs, and rural areas throughout the United States and in 100 other countries around the world. JA's 171,000 classroom volunteers around the world come from all walks of life and include business people, college students, and retirees. These dedicated individuals are the backbone of the organization.
In the 2016-2017 school year, Wisconsin's Northwest District reached 16,000 students in 984 classrooms in 20 counties and 20 communities of Northwestern Wisconsin. All operations of JA are funded through donations by businesses, foundations, organizations, individuals and participating school districts.
