Who We Are

The Jefferson County Human Services Department enhances the quality of life for individuals and families living in Jefferson County, by addressing their needs in a respectful manner, and enabling citizens receiving services to function as independently as possible while acknowledging their cultural differences. All citizens have the opportunity to access effective and comprehensive human services in an integrated and efficient manner.

The Department is divided into five divisions. The Aging & Disability Resource Division provides information, assistance and services for people who are elderly or disabled. The Behavioral Health Unit provides a full array of mental health and alcohol and drug services to a variety of consumers. The Economic Support Division provides resources to low income households and those experiencing financial loss. The Family Resource Division delivers a number of services and programs to children and their families. The Administrative Division completes all of the maintenance, support and fiscal duties required to operate the Department.

What We Do

The Human Services Department meets people's needs through an interdisciplinary knowledge base, focusing on prevention as well as remediation of problems, and maintaining a commitment to improving the overall quality of life for Jefferson County residents. The Department promotes improved service delivery systems by addressing not only the quality of direct services, but also by seeking to improve accessibility, accountability and coordination among professionals and the agencies in service delivery.
