Habitat For Humanity Of Langlade County

Founded in 2001, Habitat for Humanity of Langlade County builds simple, affordable homes for families in need in our community. These houses are sold to partner families with a no-interest mortgage. Our ultimate goal as an organization is to provide families in Langlade County with safe, decent homes in which they can grow and thrive. We began construction on our 2014 home the last week of July. We will continue to work every Wednesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the coming months until the home is completed. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks: from assisting with construction of the home to providing meals for our volunteers to serving as the site host and welcoming volunteers in the morning, volunteers of any and all experience level will be welcomed and appreciated by our affiliate. Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Linda and Millard Fuller and a small group of dedicated volunteers in Americus, Georgia. During the next few years, the Habitat movement began to spread to communities throughout the country, and in 1983, the Lower Wisconsin River Habitat for Humanity (LWRHFH) in Iowa County was founded. Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity quickly followed in 1984, and over the next 20 years, more than 42 local affiliates were established in communities throughout the state. Most began as small affiliates, created and run by volunteers, building or rehabbing one home a year. This year, we are poised to celebrate the construction of our 2000th Habitat home statewide, and many of our affiliates have added ReStores, Critical Home Repair, and A Brush With Kindness programs to our traditional whole-home rehab and new construction activities.

Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people everywhere, from all walks of life, to develop communities with people in need by building and renovating houses so that there are decent houses in decent communities in which every person can experience God's love and can live and grow into all that God intends.
