Who We Are

Our mission is to provide a safe and secure environment for youths with autism and an opportunity to experience a residential summer camp. Camp AweSum, a not-for-profit charitable organization, began as a youth-only camp in 2005. Additionally, in 2009 Moon Beach Camp began offering the family camp opportunity. In 2011, Camp AweSum assumed the organization of family camp in addition to the existing youth camp. Camp AweSum is the result of dedicated hours of planning on behalf of a committed Board. Dr. Glenis Benson, an autism consultant, joined the Board at its inception. Other Board members include businessmen/women, parents of children with autism, special education teachers, an occupational therapist, a registered nurse, and a camp director.

What We Do

Camp AweSum has two types of camps, one for youths only and one for families who have a a child with an ASD. Both camps are held at the same site, Moon Beach Camp, which is located at beautiful Moon Lake, in the majestic Northwoods near St. Germain, Wisconsin. Camp facilities at Moon Beach include modern and clean cabins in a pristine Northwoods environment. Meals are enjoyed in a family-like atmosphere at the spacious Moon Beach dining hall. Camp AweSum is a typical camp experience with all the trimmings; arts & crafts, canoeing/kayaking/sailing, hiking, swimming, fishing, campfires, bog walks, and the less typical events like Karaoke, Variety Show and Dance night. The staff of Camp AweSum will work to support the campers to enjoy camp to the best of their ability. Self esteem will soar at Camp AweSum! Come join the fun!
