The Ridges protects and preserves natural habitats through land conservation, environmental education, and scientific research. We connect people of all ages to the natural world while using science-based conservation to help safeguard these ecosystems for future generations.

What We Do

Founded in 1937, The Ridges Sanctuary is a nonprofit nature preserve dedicated to protecting one of the most biodiverse landscapes in the Midwest. The Sanctuary is home to rare habitats, boreal forest, native plants, orchids, birds, and wildlife that make this landscape uniquely important.
