Mission:
To foster a culture of understanding, empathy, and support around mental health and suicide prevention.
About the Center for Suicide Awareness:
The Center for Suicide Awareness works to build stronger, healthier communities by increasing understanding of mental health, expanding access to support, and empowering individuals with tools for resilience and hope.
Through education, training, and community outreach, the Center brings mental health awareness, suicide prevention education, and resilience-building programs directly into the places people live, learn, and serve. Our work reaches schools, community organizations, workplaces, veterans, and first responders, focusing on meeting people where they are and providing meaningful support before, during, and after times of crisis.
A cornerstone of this work is expanding HOPELINE™ across Wisconsin, providing free, confidential emotional support 24/7. Anyone experiencing emotional distress can connect with a trained crisis counselor anytime by simply texting HOPELINE™ to 741741, ensuring help is always accessible when it is needed most.
The Center also provides evidence-informed resilience training, mental health education, and wellness programming for students, educators, first responders, frontline workers, and community members. These trainings focus on practical skills such as stress management, emotional regulation, peer support, and recognizing when someone may be struggling.
In addition to training, the Center conducts extensive community outreach, partnering with schools, nonprofits, and local organizations to host educational events, youth engagement activities, and community wellness initiatives designed to reduce stigma and encourage open conversations about mental health.
Through the dedication of volunteers, partners, and community supporters, the Center for Suicide Awareness continues working toward a future where no one has to struggle alone and help is always within reach.
