The Mandolin Foundation operates Amanda's House, a transitional residence established on March 16, 2022, to support women and children in Brown County. This one-year program helps residents overcome substance abuse and mental health challenges, providing a safe and nurturing environment that fosters recovery and stability. Centrally located with outreach across Northeast Wisconsin, Amanda's House allows mothers and children to live together while working towards sobriety and self-sufficiency.
Our program includes mandatory attendance at weekly meetings covering life skills, communication, parenting, budgeting, mindfulness, and recovery support. These sessions promote learning, community cohesion, and peer accountability. Residents must also engage in work or volunteer activities for at least
20 hours weekly, boosting their skills and self-esteem. A curfew and a monthly fee of $450 instill responsibility and contribute to operational costs, promoting a sense of ownership.
Recognizing the impact of substance abuse on families, our approach includes child-focused services to support the emotional and developmental needs of children. By prioritizing holistic, family-centric care, Amanda's House aims to break the cycle of addiction and homelessness, leading to healthier, more stable futures for women and their children in our community.
