Urban Threads Provides New Clothes to Homeless Children in MPS. Approximately 4,000 students in Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) are homeless. With no homes, they often don’t have adequate clothes for school, either. Urban Threads, a program of Lutheran Social Services is working to provide these children with NEW clothes for school, from underwear to outerwear. Urban Threads is a clothing distribution center that provides new clothing that is always free to children in need We sort and arrange our clothing in department-store fashion, so the kids can have a fun shopping perience, assisted by personal shoppers (our trained volunteers). With so many children in need, it is a challenge to keep our racks stocked with clothes. We receive contributions of clothing from some companies but the demand far outweighs the supply; we need your help, too. The largest percentages of homeless students by grade level are 1st grade, 4th grade and high school. Having the appropriate clothing for school build confidence. GIVE CONFIDENCE. DONATE NOW.
For this clothing drive we are focusing on NEW only coats, boots, scarfs, gloves and hats for both male and female students kindergarten through high school. Please contact Carla Schultz to make arrangements for drop off or pick up.
