Meet the Staff
Previously, Melanie has worked as a marketing assistant at the corporate law firm Godfrey & Kahn in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and as an event coordinator for the Student Unions and Activities Office at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. Melanie has served as an AmeriCorps Member at the Volunteer Center of Washington County. Currently, she is a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County, as well as a committee member for the Big Brothers Big Sisters "Bowl for Kids" annual fundraiser. She is also a member of RPM (Rising Professionals on the Move) in Washington County. Melanie received a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Minnesota. Previously, Rachel has served as the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator at United Way of Central Iowa in Des Moines where she managed the volunteer center’s young adult engagement strategy, online volunteer portal, donor affiliated volunteer initiatives, and disaster response and preparedness. Rachel has served as a Commissioner for the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service and Marketing Chair for DOVIA (Directors of Volunteers in Agencies) of Des Moines, as well as a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa. Currently, Rachel serves on the national board of America’s Service Commissions, is a member of Junior Leauge of Milwaukee, and is an adviser to Marquette University’s Alpha Phi Fraternity. Rachel is a 2011 recipient of the State of Iowa Governor's Volunteer Award. Rachel received a Master of Public Administration, Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Journalism from Drake University. Melanie Bloom serves as the WE Volunteer Registry Coordinator and is based out of the Volunteer Center of Washington County. In addition to Volunteer Wisconsin, Melanie serves as the Media Coordinator for the Volunteer Center of Washington County where she manages marketing, public relations, web design and fund development initiatives. Melanie also provides program support to the Volunteer Center's 64 member agencies and volunteers throughout Washington County. Furthermore, she manages the website for the Volunteer Centers of Wisconsin Association (VCAW).
Rachel Manuel Bruns is the Director of Volunteer Wisconsin and is based out of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee. Prior to Volunteer Wisconsin, Rachel served as the Executive Director of Iowa Campus Compact, where she managed statewide AmeriCorps VISTA, AmeriCorps Education Award, and Learn and Serve programs in addition to providing professional development in the areas of service-learning and volunteer management to faculty, staff, and students.
