Mission
Volunteer Wisconsin leverages volunteer capabilities and local assets to enhance communities throughout Wisconsin by:

  • promoting volunteerism,
  • supporting volunteer capacity,
  • connecting volunteers,
  • and fostering partnerships.

Background
Launched in September of 2011, Volunteer Wisconsin is a statewide collaboration between the Volunteer Center Association of Wisconsin, the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee, Volunteer Center of Washington County, Serve Wisconsin and funded by a Volunteer Generation Fund grant through the Corporation for National and Community Service. Volunteer Wisconsin is a central point for volunteerism and service in the state.

The initial goals of Volunteer Wisconsin include developing statewide promotion and marketing for volunteering, developing common definitions for data collection, serving areas of the state without a Volunteer Centers or volunteer connecting organizations, providing training on volunteer management, promoting days of service, and launching a new website and volunteer portal.

Volunteer Wisconsin works in partnership with Serve Wisconsin, the state agency administering AmeriCorps State programs and We-Partner, a statewide public-private partnership between public safety officials, businesses, and community organizations collaborating to manage risk, build resilience, and strengthen disaster response and recovery. This partnership provides online acccess to a statewide volunteer portal.
